I'm hoping that a new iMac Pro is released so that the old ones drop in price. Would it be foolish to get an iMac pro for gaming and future proofing?
I do not think that would be a wise choice. I love my iMac Pro, but I use it as a workhorse for video editing and long renders. That is what it is designed for: computational power, long compute tasks where uptime and error-correcting RAM are essential, and blazing fast connectivity. It is not designed for gaming and would be a silly purchase if that is what your needs are. I also don't believe too much in future-proofing. Future proofing an option of two when buying a new machine, sure. But buying an entire iMac Pro just to future-proof, not so much. Food for thought...
