This is why I can't understand the concept of a 45 minute or 1 hour oir 90 minute commute to work and back  besides the gas cost, there's all that time wasted, sittin'.

I've got it lucky - even though our gas is now > CAN$4.20 a US gallon ($5 per imperial gallon) I've got a 4 minute commute to the office

---- or 20 minutes during tourist season.

Hey! all you camera toting furriners who don't know what Walk and Don't Walk mean, who walk backwards onto the road in traffic while framing your 1,500th digicam shot of the day and who tell your horsedrawn carriage driver to stop in the middle of the street during rush hour, we... we... <sound of teeth clenching> we bless you and welcome you to our fair city and our ravaged formerly-resource-based economy. Please, stay a while longer. :(
Ah yes, tourists. We get those in the fall. (you know how some people go crazy for New England foliage  ) Thankfully, they usually stay off busy roads, and stick to the sidestreets where there are actually views of trees.

Update

Well I put the 1gig stick of ram in and so far all is well :D 1.5gigs total, much nicer than the stock 512mb, so I will order another stick within the next week as long as the price is about the same. The package (item inside) was very well protected and as said before...yes fast delivery and I'm happy, hope this helps.

And that's why I drive a golf cart to school, work, shopping...it's great :p

That and I don't have a driver's license.

On the RAM issue - just thought I'd say I bought a 1GB stick from DataMem on Saturday and got it today....works like a charm (first time I've ever installed RAM too).

Asides from Crucial, what other brand of RAM will work in a Mac Mini?

I'm asking this because Hong Kong vendors don't carry Crucial :(

Thanks!

Bah - and I saw that thing at the Annapolis Store Grand Opening!

God it's an amazing piece of hardware.

Considering I just bought 4gb of RAM, Applecare and the whole CS2 Suite....It's gonna be a while.

I'm broke!

Well, I sure hope that Patriot RAM (from NewEgg) works in my iMac to be--because I just ordered two 1GB sticks! Now if that Paypal transfer would just hit my bank account I could go get the bloody thing!

Total price inc. shipping was ~$217.00--105 per 1GB stick.

I know well how much faster my 15" 1.5GHz PB ran when I upgraded the RAM from the stock 512 to 1GB--it was noticeable on just about everything.

Best,

Bob

i have been tracking the imac g5's ram for a few months now and it went to $115 in july and has been around $150-$160 for about a month now. i am tracking crucial by the way.

what is the reason if there is one?

Thanks!

It costs so much because you're tracking crucial's prices. Crucial has some of the highest priced ram around. Most seem to praise crucial's service, but there are other reputable outlets out there that charge significantly less.

Hey, I just wanted to chime in...

I used the Crucial RAM from NewEgg that Artful Dodger suggested. I just installed two 1GB sticks and so far all is well. Shipped quickly and a good deal for around $230 I think (with taxes and shipping and such).

I'll let you know if I run into any troubles w/ my iMac...

I don't know where some of you guys buy your RAM.
A 512 MB PC3200 stick should be in the 45-50$ range, and 1 GB PC3200 in the 90-100$ for 'value' RAM with a lifetime warrantee from a reputable seller and manufacturer.

I've never had a problem in Macs with Kingston, PNY, Mushkin or Corsair RAM. Probably some other vendors I'm forgetting too. But as always, your Mac might be picky. I just know I'm not going to be buying 'Apple Certified' RAM in the foreseeable future.
