So what’s everyone’s opinion? So far I can’t see myself EVER using it. It can’t do any generation of realistic looking pictures, it’s all Animated/3D/Cartoon, it honestly feels like 2014 generation type stuff.
It’s bit pants at the moment. I asked for 2 greyhounds and a leopard gecko, this was the best image it came up with.

I'm enjoying it immensely :) the image styles are stated as Animation and Illustration though, so that didn't surprise me. For more realistic images try the Siri ChatGPT image creation.

Apple should have released something more like MidJourney. Image Playground is just not what they hyped it up to be.

Yeah, no — it is a toy.

From the marketing blurbs, I could tell IP, like Genmoji, was always meant for younger audiences (a sizable chunk of Apple’s overall customer base) and also whoever had too much free time, and so wanted a cartoony profile pic, but wait – it’s an AI one (add buzzword points to the tally), entirely generated on your device! And it further captures your likeness! Well, except for when it doesn’t.

Tried it for three minutes. I fail to see a use case, will never look at it again.

This is so similar to a bunch of other useless features Apple has introduced over the years that will rarely get improved or updated.

Seems like a waste of human and technical resources. The time and money they put into this could have channeled towards something with a productive use. What a bore.
Don’t worry. I don’t think they put that much time and money into anything apple intelligence related. They couldn’t even bother to give it a real name other than “AI”

There are big ethical decisions about letting the biggest phone maker in the world create realistic images that impact the world (news, schools, social media, friends, bullying, etc)

Yes anyone can do this now with other apps but the ease of us to put this accessible power in the hands of so many kids?

For now, the pixar type images are actually quite fun and free :)

Glad I’m not the only one who thinks it is terrible. Try asking for a picture of Santa and you end up with a selection of random cartoon people with Santa hats or asking for a jumping dog you get a cartoon hovering dog. It’s well behind what the likes of DALL-E was capable nearly four years ago let alone where MidJourney or DALL-E 3 are today.

Image Playground was never designed nor articulated to be an advanced image generator. It is a basic to medium basic generator for fun images.

if you're looking for generational Ai images, ChatGPT, or Mid Journey will provide that level of satisfaction.

With image playground, it all comes to what the base. The info it it taking from. With Santa, upload a basic image to the app.
Then have some fun.

As time goes on, Apple Ai will be able to make an image without any base layer.

Same, I asked for a Dachshund sledging - language not supported.

Change to sausage dog - just point blank refused.

The more folk that use it (when they do) the better the results I'm guessing.

Edit; took less than a day & loving it now.

I know it’s not going down a mountain, but it’s the closest I could get.

All comes down to the base information of what Image Playground is pulling from

I actually like it. I like how it's cartoonish and it's cute to play around and send silly images with friends. I also find myself using Genmoji sometimes.

Of course it's not something that was absolutely needed, but it adds a playful layer to iOS which I happen to enjoy. It's not for everyone though.

I like it. I’ve been playing around with the people feature and it’s surprising how accurate they are - my wife commented that even the ears on her dad were perfect to a tee. I’ve done a few IP scenarios with family photos and each one is identifiable and it nailed their facial features.

Is it a revolutionary thing? No, but that doesn’t mean it has no merit.

How do we do this?
