I was excited to try it out but was quickly disappointed. It’s buggy and unintuitive. I’ll type in a description of what I want and it will constantly ask me to choose a photo of a person.

I also hate how every picture looks like a Pixar movie. Let us create something cool looking.

This whole thing is miles behind tools
like Dall-E.

So what’s everyone’s opinion? So far I can’t see myself EVER using it. It can’t do any generation of realistic looking pictures, it’s all Animated/3D/Cartoon, it honestly feels like 2014 generation type stuff.

It is specifically designed to not do realistic looking pictures probably to avoid people using it for deep-fake style content.

If you want realistic looking image generation, download DiffusionBee, and generate stuff like this ("Steve Jobs riding a horse into the sunset").

I’m not saying it has to be realistic looking but let us do a different animation style besides “Cocomelon”.

It's fun to play with but so so soooo conservative. They're really holding back what it can do. I get that you can't prompt it to do anything with brands, but it can't even make someone laughing really hard with their eyes closed.

It's fun to make images of your family and stuff for like 10 minutes. Probably never use it again.

Same prompts, Playground versus ChatGPT. . .

The cartoony look is bad enough but look at the terrible rendering Playground did on the mouth.

It's called "playground" which I think is a decent nod to the purpose of it.
Too many comments seem to be suggesting that its limited style is a bug, when it's clearly an intentional decision (for reasons already stated in the thread)

It's hard to make a human that looks really sad also.

Apple released Image Playground to appease investors into thinking that Apple is totally not behind with the AI buzz investing trend from the past 12-24 months. Apple didn't release Image Playground because they thought they actually had innovation to bring to the table.

Many Apple Intelligence features were born less out of user needs and more out of investor needs, sadly.
The writing is on the wall. Apple got caught of guard, they don’t even know what to do. This is so last minute, I’m guessing they didn’t even know AI was a thing.

Maybe I’m using it wrong, but I find it *shockingly* bad. Forget the style for a second (although I agree with the comment that described it as “cocomelon”), it just can’t follow the prompts. I asked it for an image of my friend losing at a game of Mario kart, and it created images of him as a race car driver. Nothing related to video games, or Mario/Nintendo, or losing. I asked it for an image of my wife hiking in the Sierras, and it gave totally generic hiking pictures with nothing that would indicate the requested location.

And beyond that, it makes every image this zoomed in shot of the subject from the collar up with the background blurred. Why can’t it do full body images? Why does it always have to blur the background?

I’m honestly surprised apple would release this, it’s embarrassingly incompetent.

I don’t like the cartoon-ish style of the output at all. It seems horribly dated when we have Midjourney as an alternative.
