I purchased a $24.99 unlock for iPhone 5c from an ebay listing of iphoneunlockservices.com. 1 to 5 days. I'll keep you posted

So I got screwed. The seller never responded to any of my emails so I just filed a claim with American Express and now I'm back to square one. I'll edit this post with who I try next.

EDIT: Ok I went with silmyoursim.com for $19.99. It should be done on or before August 25.

EDIT 2: WTF. Look at what slimyoursim wants from me:

Hello! Thank You For Your AT&T iPhone 5S, 5C, & 5 Factory Unlock Purchase! Your IMEI and Payment have been received. In order to process your order, we must verify that you are the account holder. Please provide the following: • Utility Bill showing the address that is in your PayPal Account. • An ID showing the name registered in your PayPal Account. Providing one of the two is ok. You may also send an iMessage of these documents. If this is too much to ask, no problem, let me know and I'll refund your payment. Orders will not be processed until verification has been provided. Very interesting! I bought unlock service from them, paid via PayPal and there was no such strange verification. Honestly, I don't understand reasons for such verification.

I agree! There should be no need for such verification.. Be careful with that.

I'm getting the same request for verification too. I'll ask for the refund.

That is VERY ODD! I had a in-contract phone unlocked by them without any request for any of that.... Not sure why the change. I am in no-way affiliated with slimyoursim, I just really LOVED the service when I used it (ONCE).

EDIT: After reading their request, they are trying to confirm your PAYPAL account. I actually sort of get that. As an ebay seller, Paypal SCARES me. They will do a charge back for almost ANYTHING, and it's up to sellers to prove their innocence. Use a CC and you won't have to deal with that request, most likely.

As for the person back there who said I had a negative experience with Chronic, I would not say it was negative. Waited about 2 weeks and got a refund without asking. I would certainly use Chronic again, I just think that their 100% service price is lofty.

Quick update as for the economy unlock service offered from chronic. My unlock was rejected! I guess it was a no go because its under contract and/or because the phone is to new. The second one could be the reason because on monday I went to apple and had my 5s (ATT) replaced under warranty and purchased unlock the following day. So who knows!

I've just decided to buy a Verizon 5s off swappa because its already unlocked and sell my ATT phone. Got a pretty good deal in my eyes, 32gb silver 5s that came with box, accessories, otterbox case, mophie juice pack case, and one more for $485!

Main reason for all this commotion is because I plan on switching to T-mobiles $30 unlimited pre paid plan..

Caution! I do NOT THINK you can use the Verizon phone on T-mo. Even if it is
"unlocked". May want to MAKE SURE it will work!

I did use a CC :(

Just for clarification to my statement, the Verizon version of the iPhone 5s sold in the USA comes GSM unlocked and is CDMA locked to Verizons network.

Maybe I'm wrong, but my understanding is that they are not unlocked to USA GSM networks.

Please correct me if I am wrong, always willing to learn.

Unfortunately, as I told you. This service is for old devices and it is too pricey in my opinion. I know 100% unlock service that will work for your AT&T iPhone 5S it costs about $75, but time frame is 15-25 days. So, your decision to buy Verizon iPhone 5S is really wise! I've never bought from swappa. Is it better than eBay? More profit than eBay? :)

Did you pass the verification and bought the service?

I had a feeling you'd be right. Yeah that time frame is way to long, hell my contract would be up by the time that would be done. Lol Jk!

First time buying from swappa for me. The process was seamless and easy. There was no bidding at all but you were able to offer a different amount then the owners asking price via public comments. I would have to say it resembles a well laid out Craigslist style site for cellphones and tablets. If you're a seller on eBay, they let you port in your seller feedback to give yourself a trusted rating. The staff verify each phone listed to be in working condition, clean imei/esn, none iCloud locked. It uses PayPal as it's payment service for verified shipping addresses and if you encounter a blacklisted or any other issue with the phone you're entitled to your money back. This was main reason why I went with them, especially with all these stolen and non paid off phones that are flooding the market right now. I would definitely check them out if buying or selling a smartphone/tablet. Also they only charge you a $10 fee to sell your item! Blows eBay out of the water with this. So far it's been a pleasant experience, i will update on the end result. Should have the phone Monday or Tuesday!

**beware of unlock site!!

I got taken in by positive reviews, but come to find out, the review website is also a scam.

Beware of unlockboom.com. They say they use pay pal, but it's really a credit card processing service out of Iceland called dalpay. I fear for the security of my credit card now.

All a total rip-off and a total scam.

If a phone is blacklisted it means it has been reported lost or stolen. A phone blacklisted on one carrier in the EU will not work on any carrier in the EU even if it's unlocked. Why do you have a stolen phone?
