That references Apples use of ibeacon type use, no? That comes down to the apps you put on your phone/messenger. Apple is not to blame for Facebook's data mining iOS user data. That's on the individual that downloaded facebook.
Everything I've seen says that any info Apple does mine, is stripped of personal identifiers. That would mean, targeted advertising would be impossible. If you have info to the contrary, I'll gladly read it.
Personal identifiers are such elements that identity you, the person, to other people or machines created and used by people. Your IMEI, MAC, NIC ID, etc are not considered by Apple, or any other of the data aggregators / sellers to be personal in nature. All have argued and won courtroom battles claiming otherwise by demonstrating that multiple persons can use the same device and nothing in the data mining algorithms can tell who is using it at any give time. They take advantage of the very strong odds that the devices they sell are NOT shared so they don’t need to collect PID to sell your data to an advertiser. They are identifying the device and they and the advertiser can, with a high degree of certainty, presume only one person ever uses it.

That’s about what I am seeing. I have iMessage enabled. Going to finish the day, the reset my battery data. And turn off iMessage and see what up. Do it OLDschool. My phone was warm so I pulled up battery in settings. iMessage used 43% of battery drain, 2.1 hours background. Really annoyed.
