I'm on a 50MB cable connection - the network is not the problem!
I'd consider it an app(le) problem.
Its really a response to the Blackberry's IM, but it doesn't get close.
Instead it feels like a childrens school yard app.
rubbish!

Thanks for making me giggle tonight.

Unfortunately, everyone I know who has an iPhone is still on iOS 4. Even my girl. I thought about sending a message to myself..

The is a little blue bubble next to the contact name.

no one has 'blue bubble' next to any of the name in my contact list, which my cousin has ios5 and i did successfully send imessage to him..Here's what I did ... i have to ask my cousin to give me his email address that associated to his apple ID, then i added it to my contact list, then when i send message to him, i choose his email, then it shows im sending imessage to him ......is it because of i have my contact name stored with google on the cloud(via Microsoft Exchange), so Apple cant detect who has imessage in my contact list??

I travel overseas often, so this is a Godsend for me. My wife & children have iOS devices, so now we can text easier when needed.

You might be saying, well I could just FaceTime or Skype, but at time is so much simpler for me to hack out a quick text like "tried calling but you weren't home. Text me when u get home and I'll call u"

IMessage is awesome! I just tried it out for the first time and it was super fast. I think this is an epic success!

I'm curious about this as well...my first question is, are you on an iPad or iPhone? I'm on an iPhone and it does not show a blue bubble next to any names in my contact list...however, if I decide to send a text to someone who has upgraded, then the text bubble changes from green to blue.

For my family...we are only using phone numbers...no email

The bubble is not in your contacts folder, I should have made that more clear. When you go to start a message you click the icon in the upper right of the screen, if the person you are messaging has iMessage then a blue bubble appears by their name. I am also only using phone numbers.

I'm using iphone..... The reason why i'm asking this question is I don't have the SMS package. If I can't see who has imessage until I tried to send an imessage to him/her, i rather use whatsapp...at least I know anyone on my whatsapp list is FREE.

You mean to create an message, then hit the icon "+" and the contact list will show up and pick from there, right? I did try, and also see no one has blue bubble ...even next to my cousin's name(he has imessage) Just wonder is it because my contact list is not stored with icloud (i synced my contact list with google via Exchange)

No, he means the list that appears when you start typing someone's name into the recipient field in Messages. Try typing your cousin's name there - you should see a blue chat bubble next to any contact information that's been verified as iMessage-capable.
