Using contact groups can work to create a list of known contacts with imessage capabilities.

Sucks that it can't be done directly on the iphone, but it will transfer over from wherever you sync your contacts from. Whether it's outlook on pc or address book/icloud on a mac.

Create a imessage contact group and stick all known imessage contacts in there. Simple.

Actually imo it wouldn't be a bad idea to have the option of only showing contacts with iMessage. I know more than a few people with only a data plan and no text messaging- I think they'd appreciate a feature like this.

The only problem i could see with this is that sometimes the "signal" that is saying yes or no for an iMessage recipient doesn't always work based on the signal of the phone.

I've had multiple times texting someone where iMessage just cut out and i got a green send button again and just had regular texting with them for a little bit until the phone picked up on the ability to send an iMessage again.

but again, that's only sometimes and its rare

Hi. Mostly I would like a toggle that shows a group of iMessage contacts so when abroad I can know who I can 'text' over wifi for free. Best if it was an automatic list not one where I had to make it so I don't have to keep going 'do they still have an apple?'

another great advantage of iMessage is international texting...even if you have unlimited texts it still costs more to text someone overseas...iMessage removes that concern
