nice write up... you forgot mention a few small things whatsapp can do:
- ability to forward an image that was sent you via whatsapp
- ability to email an image that was sent you via whatsapp
- ability to assign an image as a contact picture
- ability to email conversation history
- ability to expire status and fallback to another status
- ability to see if user is typing back a reply
- etc...
I've been looking for an app that works well on both Android and iPhone.
Ping has a crazy interface on the Android and the mrs just refuses to use it. The notifications on the android are also quite slow. The iPhone version is really polished though.
pMessenger's interface on the iPhone is truly awful. Contains spelling mistakes and just not as clean as say, Whatsapp. Can't really comment on the Android version as it's not out yet. However the push notifications come through really fast.
I would really like Whatsapp to release an Android version as I think its the most polished of them all.
these apps are really redundant imo wih so many its hard for every one to agree on what app to use im sure if you have one imo they are really starting to become the "ifarts" of the app store community ive seen atleast 10 last night browsing the app store.
Unlike fart apps, these apps actually perform a useful function. Overtime there will be a shake out and the best will rise to the top, just like the iphone rose to the top.
I found this post useful and informative and I thank the OP for taking the time to post a comparison.
