That's almost invisible to the naked eye and doesn't count as a flaw. It's like complaining about creases in leather. It's like foster parents taking a child back to the adoption center because they don't like the child having a couple of freckles.

I would ask Apple for an exchange. They normally have iPhone for replacement which are not shown in the normal stock. If the black dots are defects, the solution cannot be to put a case around it. It’s just my personal opinion.
My store did not have any in stock. When I looked online, it said I would have to ship it to them and they send a replacement within 5 days. I opted not to since I’d rather have the replacement first. What are you supposed to do in the meantime??

In Germany there is an express replacement service from Apple . You get the replacement first and have to send your current phone within 10 days. You will get your replacement iPhone charged on your credit card and get I back, when your phone is at apple.

That would be perfectly fine with me, actually. I would call and ask about that but I already found one to pick up in-store today so I’m planning to just buy that, set it up, then return the first phone since it’s within the 14-day return period.

When you have apple care+ is included as a service. But if you have someone nice normal support, they will do it too, when you has defects out of the box.

Thank you for sharing, I didn’t know that, it will help me next time because I always return when I have a issue

If you are not happy return it. Why spending premium money on something which doesn’t make you happy?

The problem isn't returning the phone. If i return i have to wait for weeks to get the replacement. Currently I just have a iPhone 5 as a backup device, my old iPhone 14 PM is not with me anymore:(

Ok that’s indeed a challenge. Apple is Apple so I don’t know its possible but you could try to get a price reduction. Or you could lend a phone from someone for the time till you get your new one.

I Never sell my old phone so I always have a back up. I think that’s not a bad idea to have some. Something can always happen with your phone.

I have a small shiny dot with missing coating on my black 15PM. It's near the glass so I can always see it. Small like a white dust spec. I also have one small shiny (I think metal) spec of dust inside the edge of my main camera. I'm still keeping mine. Apple would exchange it no doubt, but as no iPhone is perfect, the chance of getting one which is worse is too high for me, and I don't want to start a return chain. Think screen color cast or uneven brightness, dust under the screen, even worse cosmetic defects, dead/hot pixels, mushy buttons, misaligned glass/titanium, crackling speakers, overheating units, a bad battery, but not so bad to be considered defective etc. There are a lot of worse ones out there, and with a case you won't see those specs. Then of course we are all different

Hi everyone, i just got my 15 PM Natural Titanium 256GB and i immediately noticed tiny black dots around the frame. I tried to wipe it with a cloth and wet towel but, it is still there:( I ordered the phone from Apple and i have the right to send it back and wait for replacement within 14 days, but as you all know i have to wait for a long time to get the new one since the phone is out of stock in everywhere. My question is, what do you think about this problem, should i just use it with a case since the defects are so small or i should definitely look for a replacement? I also scared from the possibility of it is also not sure that the replacement phone will come at perfect condition...

This doesn’t help you now, but this is why I never part with my old phone until I'm sure I have no issues with the new one. Meaning, at least two weeks of overlap or so, usually longer.

Looks like dirt entered with the PVD coating. Technically that’s a reason for return. Apple Care may say it’s “within spec” so just return it within the two week window if you want. I wouldn’t bother, but if it bugs you then return it and cross your fingers on the next one.

For what it’s worth there should be no dirt sealed up in the PVD coating. Check out bodywork guys looking at paint jobs on cars if you think the op is not being reasonable. Once you see those painting mistakes on cars you can’t ever stop seeing them! 🤣

the definition of first world problems:
How do you think first worlds became first worlds? It is because of a constant dissatisfaction and drive to improve and to obtain ever greater comfort and convenience that first worlds became first worlds in the first place. This is how humanity advance. Complacency and a culture of shaming those who want something better hinder progress and cause second and third worlds remain where they are. Don't be complicit. Being able to go all over the internet and sneering "first world problems" is itself often a first world privilege. Don't be a hypocrite. OP is a paying customer. It's not like he stole the phone or received it from Apple for free. He has a right to complain.

What I want to know is the people every year that notice these minor imperfections on their phones, what do they do about their cars? I imagine there are far more minor flaws on cars and they cost far more than an iPhone, are people just returning their cars?
