Oh boy, another price whining thread. First of all, 512gb of storage vs. 256...storage cost has hardly changed in 2 years. Second, the Xs Max is a much more expensive phone to design, engineer, and build than the 7 Plus. This is quite easy to understand. Can we stop with this nonsense already? 90% of the active threads here are people copy + pasting the same whiny talking points about the price. Either buy it or don’t.

Buying "downrange" is the only option for me now. I like the Apple ecosphere very much, but can't afford new gear from them anymore. To be clear: This was true already before the Ex, Sex, Mex. Max SE-R XR4Ti release.

Let them get excess profits from people with money to burn all that they, Apple, desire to extract from those people!

But, they won't be getting it from me. I will still live and encourage the iOS to everyone though. I really like it, have a whole set of family and friends also using it and we don't have to really support each other like we do with PC issues (read: Mom and Dad's PC did something weird again, please help ASAP OMG). Darn iPhones just work.

You can keep repeating a lie but it still won’t ever make it true. Apple is selling more than ever. B

Laugh, you obviously haven't been looking at all the news, sites, reviewers, etc all saying they are ditching Apple after years. Many on this site have as well after this annoucement including myself after years of Apple stuff. Apple isn't keeping people. Heck, most of the people who have iPhones at work were shocked and said I am not getting a new one for sure.

Really? But I just ordered for pickup at Best Buy on Friday the Xs Max 512gb just now with no issues. Doesn't seem like they are selling.

Actually no one holds on iphone max yet so should not complain about anything ,apple iphone always has its good and when we start use it and will recognize, let received in the 21 friday then find out @@

I made the same observations and thusly will be keeping my devices longer. Honestly it's the smarter thing to do both in terms of consumerism and environmental friendliness, imo. Of course it helps that the latest iOS improved performance across the board. I have an X (sore spot, miss the 6s plus it replaced) and it performs better than it did when I got it. I thought the reviews were nonsense st first like.

Twice the price.
Hmmm didn’t we see the same thing when TVs shifted from LCD to LED then LED to OLED

IMO Apple should do away with the annual updates to their iPhone lineup.

Expecting breakthroughs in tech every 12 months is unrealistic. Which is why we don't have iPads Pros, iMacs, MacBook Pros press conferences every September like clockwork as is with the iPhone. This keynote was underwhelming, but I can't realistically expect them to shock the world every year.

Can't really see the reasoning for X owners to come out of pocket again for the Xs. The Max version of the Xs should have been released with the X last year, but I think it was intentionally held out to have something "new" a year later.

If you’re mad at Apple for getting more expensive then why don’t you buy their stock instead and look at things from another perspective?

All one has to remember is that an iPhone is a luxury item like a Rolex, Ferrari or Louie Rowton or Herme leather goods. Sure you can buy a $15 wristwatch but an iWatch cost $300+!

Like I said, the Note 9 kills it overall. This includes all the hardware.

Nobody admires a Note 9; only geeks! Everyone admires an iPhone!

I just laugh when they say during these announcements this is the most powerful iPhone yet. Okay. Did not expect it to be less powerful. I'm not happy about the prices but the market does and lots of advanced market research.

LOL!

Imagine them saying, "Every year we've brought you our most advanced iPhone yet, but this year, we decided to take a break and slow things down, literally. Our iPhone 12 is up to 30% SLOWER than previous iPhones. We think our customers will love the same great design, but with slower speeds. Thank you."

Would make for a great parody video on youtube lol

That version is for very special cases. No normal person needs an extra 450gbs of space for 55% additional price. Because of that, I believe the most bought of the XS will be the 64gb versions.

Which in itself is ridiculous. $1099 and it only comes with 64GB, no fast charger, or even the damn dongle anymore.

You can’t be happy you can “subscribe” to an iPhone for “”””””””only”””””””” $60 per month and then complain it is too expensive to buy. It’s doublethink.

Has your cubicle-mate ever ooh-Ed and aww-Ed at your shiny new iPhone that literally only you have? Super worth $1099 IMO.

I remember the days when there was only one model and it would retail for 650€ or 1€ down payment on a 49€ plan and people thought that was a expensive phone.

now it’s 1.249€ or 550€ down on a 79€ plan. Crazy
Welll back in my day *adjusts spectacles* I remember when the original iPhone was $499 for 4GB and $599 for 8GB! I bought the 8GB version and then a few months later they dropped the price to $399 and Steve Jobs all of us a $100 Apple Store credit which I put towards my first Mac in early 2008.

I agree the max should have come out last year.

It Very well could have, but last year it was rumored with OLED constraints, perhaps that shifted the 6.5 to this year. Now that Samsung is meeting these demands with OLED panels, it seems LG has been confirmed for 2019 to be an additional supplier as well, which I believe Samsung’s contract is either ending or needs to be renewed if I recall correctly.

When a point of diminishing return has been reached, an extra 5-20% performance becomes very expensive. This is no difference in the automotive industry were a track biased road car cost disproportionately more than it's high performing base car e.g BMW M4 vs M4 GTS.
