There is that yes, but those sorts of spec demands tend to be people needing them for productivity anyway.

Not necessarily.

My aunt bought the 12.9 (coming from iPad 5th gen) so she had a bigger display for watching Korean dramas while my uncle watched on the TV.

I've always bought top capacities for storing comics/manga. Honestly, manga reading is the only reason I bought an iPad in the first place (iPad 2 back in 2011). The 512GB 2017 12.9, I bought when I started reading American comics as those were busier and had smaller font compared to manga. Plus, while the 256GB on my 9.7 was comfortable for my manga favorites and reading list, it wasn't cutting it anymore when I started to add comics to the mix.

I suppose longevity might be an issue if the OP want to keep the device for 7-10 years, but it shouldn’t be an issue for uk to 5 years with any of the current iPads. The Air 4 is a great device I agree. Depends on what people need in an iPad I suppose. I’d never recommend a Pro unless you’re looking at it as a productivity device personally.

The Air 4 has A14 while the Pros have A12X/Z. Even with the 2020 having more RAM, I expect they would all be dropped from support around the same time. Maybe even sooner for A12.

There’s nothing flawed in giving an opinion which is what the OP asked for. You’re opinion is just as flawed as any other.
There is nothing wrong in saying what I said, I explained why and 5 people agreed with me by the way. End of the story.

I respect your opinion, mine is that he/she gets hold of a iPad Pro with ProMotion at a low price for longevity and to at least truly feel the upgrade from their current iPad.

Whatever the OP decides is up to them, this is just my suggestion.

Glad you are enjoying your Air 4, it is a great device.
I have the same way of thinking as you, so that's what I would do for me (and what I did, got the 2018 11in pro at a lower price (not for promotion, I don't care about promotion, but for speakers and high storage options)
However, I have learnt in time that some people only want a tablet for some specific or basic use as they use laptops or phones for anything else. And even if they had a high end tablet it would not make a difference (it would be wasted). So I refrain from suggesting what I would do for me, when I understand that someone does not have the same priorities, and try to suggest what would be best for their priorities, not mine.
Hope this exchange of opinions will be helpful for the OP.

Screen size if you want the biggest screen, I agree, you have no alternative other than to get the Pro. Same with storage.

Possibly we just don’t know.

I’m one of those people where the iPad is simply an evening internet surfing device. My main devices during the day are a Dell Precision 7550 workstation laptop and my iPhone 12. It’s certainly nice to see Pro features appear on the iPad Air even if it’s not rated so much among Apple enthusiasts. General Apple users seem to like it though and for me it was between that and the iPad Pro 2018. For me, I went for the better device but it’s largely subjective depending on what people need in a tablet.

I currently have the Air 4 and the new 2020 iPad Pro 12.9, get the Air 4. Unless you are doing really heavy video editing and graphic intensive tasks that need all those cores, the Pro models are incredibly overpriced. Im selling my Pro and keeping the Air. $1,150 for this iPad Pro is insane when a new M1 MacBook Air can be had for hundreds less.

even for video editing the difference is around 10%, while in daily use the A14 is speedier than the current pro
