I installed a bestskinsever shield on my MBA 13 and i love it. $30 shipped for a full body shield. even covered the sides of the laptop too, which i wasn't expecting. I of course left it off the trackpad cause I didn't like the way it felt running my fingers over it.

thumbs up for bestskinsever!

It's rather telling when people are critical of others. It reveals a lot about the person who is doing the judging. Usually it's their fear of looking in the mirror that causes them to be negative & critical.

And sometimes it's just sheer bafflement. Never put either of my iPhones in a case, let alone wrapped an aluminum laptop in plastic.

I got my MBA 13 wrapsol last week. It's a bit of pain to install, IMHO and they cut the shapes perfect so if you're an expert it looks great but if you're me, I had just a big overhanging no matter how many times I tried.

Overall, you really have to look carefully to notice the difference between just the normal aluminum look and the wrapsol look. Another thing is it's a little tacky so the machine wont slip in your hands at all.

As for not needing it, well I have just a few minor scratches in my uncovered MBP so this will prevent all of that. I don't have to worry about my jacket buttons/zipper scratching the bottom when I sit it on my lap due to the wrapsol being there.

I bought two wrapsols for two different 13" MBA's and one fits perfectly but the the other overhangs by 1/2 mm. The material stretches so if you squegee too hard it may end up being too big, but I didn't stretch it all that much and yet the lid section of my second one appears to be larger than my first one. I'd rather have it be a bit short than too long. Debating on whether to request a replacement from wrapsol or just live with it.

I think using this plastic coating on the MBA is terrible. It feels awful to touch and its even worse to put on.

I tried it once and returned, not for me.

I take the view that these are devices that are meant to be used and in using them they do eventually show the signs of use. What they are not are museum pieces to be preserved in kevlar or plastic and opened with white gloves and treated with like a new born baby.

Honestly I think people that put so much effort into preserving their laptops, their iphones have a slight case of obsessive compulsive disorder taking pains to preserve the pristine condition of a unit they will no doubt sell as soon as the next model comes out. It is a fastidious addiction I have never understood.

I for one have never had a problem reselling anything I have owned and used for a couple of years. These things have great resale value and as long as you don't hurl them across the room and use them as a fly swatter your going to get a fair price during resale.

Unlike you, high percentage of people spend a high amount of $$ on products and keep using it for least 5-10 years. In laptop case maybe 5 but the more pristine condition it is, the faster and easier for resale. I don't think many people keep buying new stuff when it comes out and replace the old one every year.

It happens some time and from my experience, if you complain to them that a certain piece is too long and it overhangs, next time if you get a replacement it will be made a bit smaller or shorter.

Material wise, Wrapsol is great and trust me, this adhesive is very workable and forgiving. The fact that it can be stretched a bit right after you squeegee down the solution out of the film helps a lot on working on the gadgets as you cannot have too much water/solution at the edges. In order to stretch it while the solution was squeegeed out, the film must not be totally dry or you will damage the adhesive, leaving some marks..

I am totally satisfied with the Wrapsol product. Another poster was right, you have to be quite meticulous and perfectionist to achieve the best result, just like any films on the market.

One good advice is it is better to perform the installation under sufficient lighting so that you can see where the edges go. You have to check constantly at all the boundaries to see if repositioniong of the film is necessary.
