Fry’s was nice and had everything under the sun; but you really needed to know what you wanted becasue most of teh staff were not all that technical. Very good, though, at helping you find things. The decor was neat; I used to make it a point to visit a Fry’s whenever I traveled if there was one nearby.

It’s a shame they folded.
Fry’s started going down around 2008. They capitalized the PC building boom or late 90s and early 2000s. The stores I used to go, those guys were very knowledgeable. Too bad their own management swindled 65-100 Million and drove the company to ground.

Yea, I remember going to Fry's regularly in the 90's and they has knowledgable staff; by the time they folded it was obvious they were hiring as cheap labor as possible.

It depends on the store, but he probably wasn’t their “Apple guy” because there is no Apple guy. They have to work in multiple departments because retail margins are razor thin and they‘re not going to pay an employee to hang around the Apple department all day waiting for a customer to come in. The days of getting great customer service from big box stores have been killed by online shopping, and if it bothers you, you should probably just shop online.
And I do. I can always get a lower price on amazon or the refurb apple store for apple products. I only go to the Apple store in town when I want apple support or to look at thr latest stuff. I never buy anything there. I haven't been in BB in years. They were hopeless long ago. If I want a TV I'll go to Costco. 2 times the warranty and dedicated people that do know what they are selling.
