This is what is preventing me from updating/jailbreaking w/ iNdependence... Can others confirm that Installer isn't included? Aw well, I'm sure a nice GUI will be released by the weekend anyway...
independence does not install the installer you have to install it using independence and then ssh into iphone and set these commands
chmod 777 /Applications
chmod 777 /Applications/Installer.app
chmod 777 /Applications/Installer.app/Installer
download the installer from here
Update: if the above command didn't work use this one
chmod ug+s /Applications/Installer.app/Installer
yes but after upgrade activation/jailbreak you have to install openssh and run signal.app to be unlocked on the new baseband or unlock it again and it will downgrade your baseband to a 1.1.2 state
So if I run Signal.app w/ the IPSF method after I upgrade to 1.1.4, I should be fine? Did you mean I would be on the 1.1.2 baseband OR I could go the other route and downgrade to the 1.1.2 baseband?

You can use independence to downgrade your baseband and REUNLOCK the phone. you should be fine after i think....if you with to keep IPSF though..then you use signal.app
1. If I just update and install signal.app, everything will work and I'll be onthe new baseband too?
2. Also, my phone already has Signal.App.... Will I have to reinstall? If so, where do I install too? (I already have Signal.App on my mac)

so will just jailbreaking affect anything- ie. will it alter the baseband and make the phone unusable or break maps?
yes you have to install signal.app again and yes you will be fine
jailbreaking the iphone will not alter the baseband
just forcequit independence and run it again
they both independence and ziphone use the same way to do things
yes but if you have otb 1.1.3 you will have to unlock it again. but if you have the 3.9bl ie. 1.1 or earlier iphone you can just use the signal.app and ur good to go
I downloaded the Signal.App file to my mac. How do I install it? I'm assuming I use a program like FUGU and place it somewhere on the phone over wifi. Please give details. Thanks
use customize tab in independence after installing ssh to install it on your phone

I was worried about the whole terminal thing and it is giving me problems.
Installer is on the phone and all seems to be working except I can not download BSD I get this message" Main script execution failed"
1)what exactly is that last step with terminal for, will it be ok if I do not do it?
2)Do you think that the problem I am having with BSD is because of the terminal step?
