Infuse 7.6.6 is out with a few improvements. Many more good things to come soon!

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but Infuse seems to have an issue with inaccurate colors. When I view something on my TV using the TV's built in media player and a USB connected to the TV, the colors are very lifelike and accurate. When I view the same file on my MacBook Pro using Infuse, the colors seem off and not 100% right.

There have been reports or "complaints" about this previously (some dating as far back as 2022) but it seems nothing as been done to correct it so far. Is this something that can be corrected/resolved through a future update or is it how it's going to be?

Some examples:

Sorry to hear about that. If you are seeing issues with certain videos or setups, please drop us a note with more details and we can look further into what may be going on here.

Also, if you're able to send in one of the videos which is giving you problems that could also be helpful in tracking down what is going on.

Infuse 7.6.7 now available! 🙌

Set custom forward/back seek times, support for movie ID tags in NFO files, improved Trakt sync, and more!

Infuse 7.7 has landed and includes our all-new Direct Mode feature for Emby, Jellyfin, and Plex.

Direct Mode for Emby, Jellyfin, and Plex

Direct Mode is a new connection option in Infuse which provides a more seamless experience when using popular media servers. This allows Infuse to display native lists and collections, retrieve newly added titles in seconds, access up-to-date search results, and load even the largest library categories with blazing fast speed.

Native lists and collections

With Direct Mode you'll see a familiar face when connecting to Emby, Jellyfin, and Plex. The home screen can now pull in native lists from the server, matching the lists and collections pinned there, allowing for easy access to the items you want to see the most. If multiple sources are connected you can mix-and-match and reorder things just the way you want them—Plex lists next to Jellyfin lists above Emby lists alongside Infuse lists. All of the lists! 🤩

Blazing fast library browsing

No more delays while waiting for a the local library to update. Browsing in is now handled entirely on-demand, providing near-instant access to even the largest libraries and categories. Note: Support for browsing some categories such as collections and actor credits will be added soon.

infuse77-browse_2x.jpg

Direct search with instant updates

Rounding out the Direct Mode feature set is a powerful direct search option. Searches are now sent to the server itself and provides fast results which are always up-to-date—even for the most recently added titles. The search scope can also be easily adjusted to switch between different servers to pin down exactly what you are looking for in the blink of an eye.

Direct Mode vs Library Mode

When connecting to a media server like Emby, Jellyfin, or Plex Infuse will always display metadata from the server instead of fetching its own from TMDB. The difference with Direct Mode is this info does not need to be pre-cached and stored in a local library on the device. Everything is fetched on an as-needed basis, on-the-fly. Not only can this help with a quicker set up process so you can start watching your favorite content sooner, it can also help provide faster updates when content is added or removed—especially for those with larger media collections.

With that said, each option has its own strengths and limitations so which mode to choose can vary depending on the situation.

Direct Mode

  • Faster updates from server
  • Smaller storage footprint on device
  • Limited offline browsing
  • Ideal for larger libraries

Library Mode

  • Combines multiple sources into a single library
  • Utilize Infuse library categories and filters
  • More robust offline browsing
  • Ideal for small or medium libraries

Feel free to mix and match with some shares set to use Direct Mode while others use Library Mode—the choice is entirely yours!

How to enable Direct Mode

Direct Mode comes enabled by default when setting up a new media server connection in Infuse 7.7. To enable Direct Mode for an existing share simply navigate to the Edit screen for the saved Emby/Jellyfin/Plex share and disable the Library Mode option found under the Advanced tab.

Plex skip intros, credits, and commercials

Last but not least, another great feature baked into 7.7 is the ability to utilize timestamp info provided by Plex to skip intros, credits, and commercials. When available, a button will appear during playback allowing you to skip all the boring bits and binge episodes faster than ever before! Note: A Plex Pass is required in order to use skip features.

Infuse 7.7.5 now available! 👏

New sort options for Plex, added toggle for Smart Folders, improvements for collections, plus other fixes and improvements. https://firecore.com/releases

Note: ‘Smart Folders’ is a feature in Infuse that allow a folder to be ‘flattened’ and displayed as a playable item instead of a regular folder. This can be useful if movie titles are organized into individual folders with video, artwork, metadata, and subtitles files inside. Learn more

We’re very happy to announce the release of Infuse 7.8!

Play version for Emby and Jellyfin

Emby and Jellyfin users now have the ability to choose a specific version when beginning playback. This allows for optimized playback based on device and network conditions, if multiple versions of a video are present on the server.

infuse78-version_2x.jpg

Automatic version selection

Along with the ability to choose a version to play, there are new options which allow the best version to be selected, automatically. This can be handled by Infuse based on your device type (EG play a 4K version on Apple TV 4K, 1080p on Apple TV HD, etc...) or you can set manual preferences to always choose the highest or lowest quality video. This new setting applies to videos with multiple versions streamed from Emby, Jellyfin, and Plex servers.

A handful of other improvements are also included so be sure to check out the full list of what’s new in 7.8 and other recent updates.

Today we are excited to announce the release of Infuse 8 for iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac...and Vision!

Infuse 8 features an all-new app for Apple Vision Pro, fresh new designs for all devices, revamped app internals, new player controls, and many other exciting new changes.

infuse8-hero_2x.jpg

Apple Vision Pro

Infuse 8 includes a brand-new, fully native app for Apple Vision Pro! Vision users can now enjoy the full array of Infuse powerful features available on other devices on a massive virtual screen. Additional Vision-specific features such as 3D video and immersive environments are in progress and will be available soon.

Refreshed layout and designs

Fresh new designs are now available on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and Mac. These updates blend an inspiring new layout with the minimalistic nature of Infuse that you have come to know and love for a great balance of style and usability. Note: On Apple TV, the New layout can be enabled by adjusting the ‘Details View’ option found in Infuse > Settings > General.

All-new modern infrastructure

Lots of things have changed since Infuse was first released in 2013. Libraries which used to consist of only a handful of small files can now easily extend to tens of thousands of massive 4K videos. We took a big step towards handling these larger libraries with the addition of Direct Mode earlier this year and 8.0 builds on that same focus with an entirely revamped browsing infrastructure. This provides significantly better app performance and faster loading of lists and items on the home screen - especially for those with larger libraries or multiple servers.

New player controls

The new playback overlay features a contemporary design and has been fine-tuned to provide easy access to commonly used options such as audio/subtitle track selection, volume boost, and playback speed.

Optimized for the latest devices

Along with improvements for the latest versions of Apple’s software, optimizations for the newest devices - such as the new iPhone 16 models - have also been added. This allows your library and artwork to appear beautifully just like you have come to expect from Infuse.

Upgrade for free! 🎉

Infuse 8 is a free automatic update for all Infuse 7 users - and is waiting for you in the App Store right now!

The all-new Vision app is available as a free download on the Vision App Store and all active Pro subscriptions can be used and shared with family members without having to make any additional purchases. 🙌

Those running older legacy versions (Infuse v4, v5, and v6) can get a free year of Infuse Pro when upgrading to Infuse 8.

Thanks!

We’re super-excited about the release of Infuse 8 and we really hope you enjoy using it as much as we do.

Thank you so much for your app! Honestly, it’s one of the three (along with Drafts and Things) that keeps me from switching to Android.
