Will infuse support sub folders? I have my whole 1,000+ movies in sub folders.

I don't want to have to re-arrange everything!
Yes. Infuse will treat single movie folders as playable items (you can also have things like subtitles, artwork, and metadata files in these folders as well).

E.G.

In your main movies folder you have a unique folder for each title. The folder itself would appear as a movie in Infuse, with cover art and metadata shown.
@firecore
the other day I played Ant Man movie. Infuse buffered at 12:35 min mark and it stuck there. the only way to continue playing is to fast forward. MrMc played the same movie at 12:35 min mark just fine. I also tried VLC on a PC and it played without any problems.

I thought it might be just one Movie but last night it happened again twice in another movie, Pan. Both movies are 11GB and 12GB MKV.

is this a known bug? any future fix for this?
It's not something we've specifically seen, but we are working on a handful of other related playback items that have come up since the release of 4.0.

The 4.0.1 update will resolve of handful of quirks and add some minor features, and 4.0.2 will be geared more toward playback improvements.

Hi there,

Not an atv4 owner (yet), and wether or not I buy it will depend on Infuse possibilities.
I have a simple question.
I know indexing makes a nice presentation, but I don't really like the whole process, especially taking care of files that were not correctly identified (if any).
Is there in Infuse a simple way to browse folders and files, and simply select the file I would like to play (a bit like a "finder")? I am talking if sharing from a NAS.
Thanks in advance!

Think I found my answer in a review video - and seems it is possible.
Still waiting for confirmation.

BTW, are you planning on including a photo viewer?

We've gotten quite a few requests for a simple list view, so it's something we're likely to add in a future update.

We're not ruling it out, but our main focus is always going to be video.

I tested 4.01 and still have about 10-15 second delay before video starts. I am sure not my video or my network or my NAS server because none of the other application do this. They pretty much start instantly. Except for the fact that your UI is simply the best I would have already removed it. I will test again 4.02. Btw. Your iOS version does the same thing. And I have the Pro version on both.

Thought I would try this again on version 4.01 and it's better than last time I tried it, my media still stutters but no where as bad as before. So it's getting better but not quite there yet. Hopefully they will crack it.

For now I will still use MrMC as everything is buttery smooth.

But keep up the good work anyway.

I have been testing MrMc and NAStify along with Infuse. The other two will start instantly and play well. NAStify works better with UPNP then SMB. Also, has an issue with REW and continue. MrMc after creating Favorites is easier to get to my content. It also has the best play, pause,REW,FF. However, need a bit of work supporting the Apple TV SIRI Remote. Swiping is really clunky. And sometimes does not respond to clicks. But since play is the most important I think I am now thinking MrMc is not that bad. NAStify now has a file/folder delete option switch is nice since I am using this for DVR playback.

Btw. Do you know how to show Movie and TV menu items in MrMc. I do not see them. Do you need a PVR app? Would be nice to point to my Movies Folder for the Movies Menu item. I saw these in the App Store Picture of the App screens. I currently just have Videos where I created Favorites of those items. Waiting for the UI to get smoother before showing to the wife. Except for the performance problems would have had her start using Infuse. She reall wants a very clean and simple UI. Actually so do I. You know, just works.

4.0.1 doesn't include any real performance or playback improvements, as it was submitted to Apple about a week ago. A complete list of the additions it does include can be found here. http://firecore.com/forum/topic/13698

We've been working on a handful of playback/performance items that some have reported since the release of 4.0 and hope to have most, if not all, of these addressed in 4.0.2.

verified 4.0.1 update...

no more static noise when navigating around in the pull-down info menu.

Wish item: auto-detail works from lower shelf but to play a movie, it requires 1) swiping up to select play icon and 2) click one more to play. Can you click on the movie to play it? Now clicking on the movie does nothing.

Issue: double-tap to return to top of grid view works but it stucks there and requires multiple swipes to register and move down. then it jumps randomly down.

You had mentioned the 10x improved with METADATA. I had ask if that would have anything to do with my problem and got no response so was just hoping. I look forward to the 4.0.2 release. Do you have a beta / testflight. I would be interested in getting an early release. At this point it is not usable. Thanks.

I have tried to share a folder from my Mac. But when i try to add it to Infuse, it ask me for my Mac user and Pass, but when I introduce it, it says that they are not correct :S
I have configured the shared folder in the Mac and I don´t know what else to do

Under Mac Settings / Sharing / Options. It shows SMB and AFP and also Userid's. I had setup a Sharing Only User so I did not need to use "my" userid and password on my Apple TV's. I had to enable it here.

to show Movie or TV menue items on the home screen, you need to set your source type to either Movie or TV show.

you can change source type by selecting it, hold touch pad, selecting content type. then change to either movie or TV show type.

Could not get it to work. I have a Movies Folder. I hold touch pad down to select the folder. Then Set Content. Then set This Direct Contains (Movies) or (TV shows). If I select again it says Change content or Scan for new content. I do not see "source type" words anywhere. These videos were created with my HDHomeRun DVR software. Also, this only worked with SMB and not UPNP.

you are correct with "set content" (not source type).

can you check settings if you set to hide these? under System > settings > Appearance > Skins > settings > Home Window options > Hide main menu button

Where. Could not find anywhere in Settings where it says to Hide or not Hide Movies and TV. In fact only see TV in the Settings and it talks about Enable PVR which I said I do not have. Are you looking at the MrMC Application running on the Apple TV?

ALSO, I have it set to Expert to make sure not missing any items.

No public beta at this time, but 4.0.2 shouldn't be too far off.

on the Infuse home screen, is there a way to display cover art for folders there?

I placed folder.jpg inside these favorite folders but it is not working.

I have noticed with playing my media with Infuse that my Mac Mini's fans periodically spin up and are quite loud. I never noticed this with Plex previously.

@firecore
Hate to compare with MrMc but both Infuse and MrMc are the most popular media streaming apps on App Store.

Infuse takes 6 seconds to play after 10-second rew/FF. MrMr is very fast when it comes to starting playing movie or rew/FF 10-second during playback. It starts playing almost instantly for each 10-second rew/FF.

does coming 4.0.2 improve playback performance, especially Rew/FF?

I love this app but I want to make a small suggestion regarding metadata. Currently, some of my TV-shows are in folders as this:

Masters.Of.Sex.S02.1080p.Bluray -->
Masters.Of.Sex.S02E01.1080p.Bluray
etc
etc

Infuse then fails to load metadata for the first folder; Masters.Of.Sex.S02.1080p.Bluray since the files are in separate subfolders under the main folder. Could you make it so that this structure works with metadata? It would make me love this app even more :)

Once you determine the problem I would like to see the change applied to the iOS IPad version. It is also taking a long time to get started. I am hoping for pretty much instant start like every other App I have that view these videos. My start times require at least 10 seconds and up to 18 seconds. I have timed them many times now.
