Inspiration from iOS that are in Android and vice versa

I think iMessage is a direct copy of FaceBook Messenger and there are feature in iOS like the drop down notification panel, control panel that are direct copy from Android.. and also some of the widget ideas. It is just easy to think of the stuff iOS copied. I do not like they copy off others then turn around and sue others for doing the same thing. I do like the fact that technology is a building block and inspiration from different companies to build a better product but don't be a hypocrite. But feeling aside it makes the OS more usable and also the beauty is that it is cohesive look / feel (the simple and classic design Apple uses in it's iOS) . I just want Apple to copy off of the Note 8 . I might switch to Note 8 eventually but still doing research lol.

That is true. Apple took the graphic interface from xerox and made it more usable.

I Only have a feeling that there are technologies that existed before Apple made iOS like a touch screen OS but it wasn’t until Apple that made it truly applicable for daily life. Not sure this is true but the pattern that I am seeing is that Apple takes existing technology and tries to make it more applicable for consumers like the first Mac. They are really successful at that.

I had the features (Gifs, Camera / picture in text input field instead of new window, game inside messenger, gifs, sending money and files) WAYYYYYY before iMessage had any of them (frankly the implementation of these features are just eerily similar). I don't know about Whatsapp... although WeChat is also very robust and had lots of feature before iMessage too.

Seem like LG Prada is the first touchscreen mobile phone to come out a few months before the first iPhone.

Its not really the same thing. iPhone basically invented the modern smartphone.

Ice Cream Sandwich shedded some of its ugly reputation. Marshmallow and Nougat is like their Windows 7 while KitKat is like XP.

Android does toss alot of features, but its usually a mess and across multiple phones. No one cared about NFC until Apple had Apple pay for example.

I mostly agree, I don't like it but it seems whenever Apple enters the game, then it is officially everywhere like this wireless charging with the new iPhones.

NFC was useful for a lot of things that Apple still doesn't allow. I mostly use mine to check if my travel card has any balance left. While I agree that it was more of a poweruser feature, it was used for a fair bit of things before any payment stuff. Apple has been good at popularizing features though.

Funny reading that iPhone 6 vs Nexus 4 thing. Some of the things for 2016 still aren't possible on iOS. Not to mention how many things that came in iOS upgrades were built years earlier by the jailbreak community. Multitasking for example is almost the same as the multitasking hack.

In any case I find iOS is now behind Android in some basic things. For example the default keyboard does not offer prediction in my native language so I am constantly switching between keyboards based on which language I type on. I actually do like the iOS default keyboard on my iPad a lot so it's annoying that I have to use non-12.9" iPad optimized 3rd party keyboards at all. File management is also absolute hell in those situations where you just want to download some file for either quick viewing or transferring to your computer later.

Honestly 3rd party keyboards on IOS are a mess. Might as well not have added them if they are going to be buggy as heck.

Apple entering the game with wireless charging, has had very little effect on the industry. Qi charging is hugely popular and has been for years now. And this is the very reason Apple didn't create a proprietary version of Wireless charging... because Qi is the de facto standard.
