Instagram users, what do you guys think of android having it?

It's an app. Anybody who truly gets upset by it being released for Android is an idiot.

I'm just wonder if Instagram is ever going to become profitable.

If I ever switch to android I get Instagram too.

The only way to advance is to learn and share, being greedy and keeping everything for yourself doesn't help.

Really, I don't care, its good that they are getting the same things we are. Android is not a bad OS, and to be honest, Apple needs Android. And frankly, we, as iOS users, benefit from the existence of Android. The more competition there is, the more Apple will try to better them. If there were no competition, Apple would need much to impress us, and we would just take what they give us. Apple needs Android, Android needs Apple. Just like Batman needs the Joker.

i can only see this as good news. i love my iphone and ios, but i realistically can't see myself sticking with apple's ecosystem forever. eventually, i'm going to want to try something else, and it would be nice if the apps i know and love are present on other platforms (windows phone, i'm looking at you!).

I'm not concerned either way since I don't use it.

I tried to use it, but I'm not a fan of sharing photos of where I go, people I know, etc on the internet with total strangers. I mean, I'm one of the only people I know who has a Facebook with only people I know and see daily, and locked out to everyone else.

I didn't know instagram had come to android until I read this.

Surely this is a good thing though? I don't understand any reason why this should be a negative to any iPhone user. It just means that we will be able to see and share even more great pictures.

Instagram has been out exclusively on the iPhone for 2 years before it was available on Android. Seems iPhone users feel that they have the right to its exclusivity which is ridiculous.

This ^^ I think the ONLY reason iphone users would be upset about this is because it takes one less argument out of the list of what makes ios better than android. Instagram no longer sets ios apart, as it can now be had on other platforms.

In a practical way - how could this be bad?? Or wrong?? Could you imagine if another major app were one-platform-only? Like if you could only get facebook on Android or something? And unless there's a financial incentive for the developers to remain apple-exclusive, why on earth WOULDN'T they want to gain access to the many millions of Android users out there? And from the user perspective, it also should be a good thing. I know that in my friend pool there are many who use Android as well as iPhone - so now you have access to all your Android friends. Unless you are so extreme in your apple prejudice that you only socialize with other ios people (and I'm sure some sad people are actually like that) - it's a good thing.

Being that iOS allows far less access to core components of the OS itself via Apps than Android does, I wouldn't think this would be something we need to worry about. If anything, the fact that it is an iOS app is what is going to limit its usefulness on Android IMO.

Oh, it matters a lot to me.

It affects my life soo much that Android has Instragram, really.

I can no longer sleep at night knowing Android has Instragram, it is tearing my life apart.

Fear not... the Android version is already pretty stripped down.
I have it on my 3GS and my SGS2 and the Android version only has about 1/5 the filters as the iOS version.
It's also not 100% compatible with ICS. It's the first Android app I've ever seen that can actually cause the phone to hard freeze and force you to pull the battery to reboot.
That kind of freeze is usually caused by flashing a bad ROM or kernel.

Should be for people that appreciate photography not just cause someone has exclusive rights too it.

Liking an app solely on the basis of exclusivity is pretty ridiculous don't you think?

I'm sure the folks at Instagram are hating all the extra publicity and traffic from the Android users.
