You can download a iso file for high sierra, and put it on a usb stick/black DVD
though you do need a external disk drive for the DVD option. Hope this helps!

How to download an old macOS installer - Apple Insider website

How to get old versions of macOS - Apple website

How to create a bootable installer for macOS - Apple website

I initially downloaded a Hackintosh distro [macOS 10.14] to install on my Dell laptop then once it worked, I downloaded the Apple installer from the Mac App Store... I was able to download macOS 10.13, 10.14, 10.15 through the app store but for macOS 10.12 and older it is a DMG file... Once I was able to download the installer from the app store, I ran it and used Unibeast to create a Hackintosh USB drive I can use for my laptop... For your case, since you have Apple hardware, you can run the terminal commands to create a bootable USB drive if you want to clean install... I have not tried this since I don't have Apple hardware for macOS...

Conclusion:

One very simple way to make a new SSD boot disc with High Sierra is something you can do with an existing installation of High Sierra.
- boot your Mac in command/R and select reinstall OS
- enter the disk you want to install the new download to
- the new SSD should be ready formatted for Mac (extended journaled) and given a name
- wait for the download to finish then take out the old HDD and insert the new SSD in its place
- your Mac should then boot up in High Sierra
- reinstall Calendar archive, your old Itunes folder and anything else you need.

I've just done this and now have a new SSD boot drive working. Thanks everyone who helped me.
