I am trying to install tiger on my 700mhz imac without a dvd drive. I tried to install tiger with an external usb dvd drive with no luck? does anyone know exactly what external firewire dvd drive I need inorder to install tiger. thanks

Try using a USB thumbdrive, unless for some reason you can't boot from USB on these old iMacs...?

You can't boot PPC Macs via USB.

Lacie makes some nice Firewire external DVD drives, although you're looking at a good $120 probably (unless they've dropped in price recently). Or, if you have another Mac around (PPC or Intel), you can use it's optical drive by connecting it via Firewire and booting the other Mac in Target Disk Mode.
