In theory, if such a dreamy compression did exist, I'm sure my 2012 QC Mini wouldn't be able to keep up.
But I think by the time 8K hits mainstream, we'll see 500Mbs to 1Gbs internet connections, and affordable SSDs with capacities of 10TB and more, so file size won't matter that much. Now THAT I like to dream about!
