iOS 10.2.1 Beta 2
Release Date:
Tuesday, December 20, 2016
Build Version: 14D15
Darwin Kernel Version: 16.3.0 Thu Dec 15 22:41:46 PST 2016

Previous beta: Beta 1

Please report bugs to Bug Reporter on the web (a developer account is not required to do this).

Baseband/Modem Firmware:
  • iPhone 7/Plus (Intel): 1.02.15
  • iPhone 7/Plus (QC): 1.33.00
  • iPhone 6S/6S Plus: 2.41.00
  • iPhone 6/6 Plus: 5.32.00

Carrier Versions:
  • Three UK: 27.0
  • AT&T: 27.0.1
  • Telstra AU: 27.0
  • All other carriers are 27.1

Changes:

Enhancements/New Features:

New Bugs:
  • Battery life degrades significantly. Almost the iOS 9.0 beta 1 level.
  • Battery percentage updates periodically, not based on actual battery capacity. That is: if you use device when battery is fully charged, percentage will drop from 100% to 92% in 10 seconds. But until your battery capacity is actually 92%, percentage number will not update.

Reoccurring Bugs:
  • iTunes complains that it can't add videos to device because Videos.app is not present. Cannot find the app on the App Store to restore it. Able to see the Videos.app in the App Store through this link, but the download is greyed out.
  • Last word of messages in Messages sometimes not shown when Bold Text is enabled

Bug Fixes:
  • Keyboard lag has been fixed.

Release Notes: (not yet attached)

Installed on both iPhone 6s Plus and iPad Air 2. The stuttering in Clash of Clans is still here when you swipe and / or scroll. Even Siri have this kind of stuttering (continous) when you reach the Sorry, I missed that part, and then click on the "?". Scroll and see the bad experience. Release your finger and see how smooth is it.
This issue is here since iOS 10.0.0 on all of my devices.

Any changes in Bluetooth stuttering while using the phone simultaneously while streaming to some third-party equipment (in my case and others' cases from reading here, specifically in-car streaming audio)?

Despite the Bluetooth work, iOS 10.2 didn't fix the issue in my particular case.

Streaming was great in iOS 10.1 -- then became problematic in iOS 10.1.1 with Apple's BT work in that revision as well, at least for me.

Is "animations smoother" the new "safari is snappier"?

Yes.

Except I don't recall so many people pushing back every single time with the snappier Safari crap. I remember it being more like a me too fan boy circle jerk fest. But maybe I'm just remembering wrong.

Now, every single update is - "animations are smoother" .. "NO THEY'RE NOT" .."well they are for me. suck it." .. "that's impossible. here's the animation slowed down and magnified with a 40,000x electron powered spunk-a-scope."

And round and round it goes.

Haha yeah gotta love the MR forums. Anytime someone claims that animations are smoother, all I ask is that the device be declared and a video screen capture be supplied. Then we have no reason to doubt and no reason to pushback!

But then again, there's also plenty of "when will Apple fix blah blah blah bug" that in the real world, the only person to experience it is the poster

They're inconsistent at best. At times they're butter smooth and seemingly out of no where there's stutter. I've just learned to accept it and hope Apple eventually irons it out. This is on an iPhone 7 Plus.

How do you check kernel version btw?
I have an app called 'SysSecInfo', but it got pulled from the App Store a long time ago.

I have been experiencing the same issue on the past 4 betas.

Exactly the same situation for me. Golden in 10.1. Garbage in every release thereafter.

Animations are same and still slower, nothing has changed even with 10.2 so far 2 betas and nothing changes

I agree. Animations are horrid on my 7+. If animations are speedier for others, please update the Wiki with said device.

Is "animations smoother" the new "safari is snappier"?

Apple really did screw something up with the smoothness of animations and scrolling on the iPhone 7/7+. It's been getting incrementally better with certain updates, but it's still not as smooth as iOS 10 on the iPhone 6S.

I've posted in the past that I suspect it's a power save mode issue, since the problem goes away when the CPU is very busy in the background doing things like installing updates. I want them to fix this already. It makes some apps less enjoyable to use.

We're not just complaining for no reason on this. :)
