I meant as of right now, as of beta 8... I hope you're right about the GM

Yes. But my point is that when Beta 8 was "finished" we were still on beta 5. So any bug reports submitted between beta 5-beta 8 wouldn't appear until the GM anyway. That's why the GM usually has the most fixes and most stability.

That's true. I watched the WWDC keynote again and noticed that their iOS 10 build had a whole bunch of stuff that we didn't even see until beta 3 or so.

Yeah, I noticed that, too. For example, in the ios 10 keynote, the iphones had the new homescreen layout with messages app in the dock. But we got the new layout in beta 5 I think, or 6.

Messages apps are still pretty slow and buggy, lockscreen is buggy (for music playback, can't really scrub from left edge of screen without widgets view popping into place), dismissing Message quick-reply is really clunky and not smooth at all, Apple Music is still slow as hell from the lockscreen, some freezing and odd behavior, really odd locking sound, etc.

I really hope they eventually add a toggle for lockscreen widgets. I don't like how many usability sacrifices had to be made to add it in.
The new notifications are kind of ugly and quick reply is not working as smoothly as in iOS 9. I can't say anything about Apple Music because I don't use it. Haven't had any problem with widgets (not that I use them a lot - I only use two).
I believe all those things won't be fixed with one more beta tough.
For everything else it's a very solid OS, from my perspective.

Man, hard to believe that we're pretty much 0-1 betas away from public release. iOS 10 still seems so unfinished and nowhere near ready for the public. :/
iOS 10 is the most polished/smooth IOS beta I've used.

Betas aren't the final product. That said, iOS 10 beta seems farther ahead then its predecessors. This beta would be a successful .0 release, compared to years past. Just my opinion.

The last beta to GM usually has the most amount of bug fixes. Hence the long wait between GM and final beta. Remember. The betas we receive are 2-3 betas behind internal betas. When they seeeded beta 5 they were working on beta 8 internally. That's why it takes a few builds for bug fixes to reach developers. Wait till the GM before you say it's unfinished.
I feel curious for quite a long time but why you say they "use beta 8 while we everyone here use beta 5", which means they use something a lot earlier than...uh, I forgot there was an alpha stage of software development. And, yeah...

Yeah. Especially that rather annoying music app. No star rating. Invisible button. Not hide-able Apple Music. Buggy lyrics. Just name a few.

Haha, that invisible button always cracks me up

The Music App needs work still
Betas aren't finished/whole products. They are meant for testing. While I hope a few more things are cleaned up in the GM, it's not really fair to bash a beta for being unfinished. It's the reason Apple held off on public betas for so long. Laymen confuse betas with official releases, and then trash the OS.

If the music app still has issues the day after the release of the new iPhones, then I can see complaing about it. Hell, I'll even join in with you.

yes there is a delay between builds and when the public get them, but that doesn't meant there will suddenly be a lot of fixes condensed into the GM. rather, Apple maintain a similar delay going forward, with continued develop now being for 10.0.1, 10.1 etc.
in other words, the GM will be old too.

Actually they held off on doing Public Betas for so long because Steve Jobs refused to do them. I don't have a link or source on that but I did read that in an article somewhere.
