I have this issue a lot on the ipad air 2. 10.0.1. Wish they would fix it.

Very annoying. Although most of the time I can click the power button to put it to sleep and then wake it back up and it works.

My iPad Air 2 just updated to 10.3.1 two - three days ago
Yesterday it had the rotation lock bug, while it was on standby charging, ...
Above tricks earlier in the thread did nothing to get its rotation fixed.
Had to shut down and restart.
:(

Please, everyone with this issue keep reporting it to apple via radar.apple.com so they bump it's priority maybe on next version :(

Same thing happened to me. Normally locking and unlocking resolves this, but this time nothing resolved it short of a restart.

That's the second time I've had it with 10.3.1. I hadn't seen the problem since 10.2.1 and never had to restart to fix it.

After 6 months of filing bug reports Apple Bug Reporter just got back to me saying they cannot replicate the issue. Wonderful. It still occurs randomly on 10.3.1. Rarely but happens nonetheless.

Daily occurrence for me on an iPad Air 2 IOS 10.3.1. Extremely frustrating as the only fix that works for me is to reboot.

The orientation problem is a divide by zero bug when the tilt sensor is nearly or perfectly level. The easiest fix is to always keep the iPad slightly tilted.

I occassionally have this bug on my iPad Air 2 running iOS 10.3.2. Sometimes restarting the iPad solves it, but the last time it was solved automatically after a few minutes (no restart needed).
