Anyone knows how software fixed a seemingly physical issue like 'cold freeze'?

The touch digitiser on touch screens isn't like a switch that registers on or off depending on whether it's being touched, it's actually measuring the changes in the screen's electrostatic field that happen when your conductive finger presses against it (this is a simplified description). The sensitivity of this is tuned so that it doesn't require too much or too little contact to register that a touch has occurred, and changes in temperature, humidity, etc skew the measurement and change how conductive your skin is, so compensation is being done dynamically to provide consistent performance. The profile of this compensation can be adjusted via firmware.

This isn't something unique to the iPhone X or OLED screens, and in fact I've experienced the issue occasionally with an iPhone SE as well, where rapid swipes across the screen will sometimes fail or end early (as though the finger was removed even though it wasn't) when the phone experiences a rapid drop in temperature.

Starts to make sense now...

I never had the cold freeze issue....hoping this update doesn’t mess up my perfectly working phone.

Glad to hear you guys are seeing very noticeable performance improvements on the X with this update. I on the other hand don't see any. If anything, I feel like it's been a bit choppy for the last couple days regardless of the update. Very strange and might all just be in my head.. Anyone else?
Pretty good on my X

i think this has been resolved for me now but when i was still on 11.1.1 and swiping to turn off my iphone x, it made the SOS siren sound for a quick 2-3 seconds before turning off.

hope that this was a previous bug. i don’t think it actually dailed though.

In-app speaker clipping still present on 8 Plus. Sounds like trash. Love this 8 Plus but the janky @$$ speaker clipping is horrible.

Do you notice any improvements on the iPhone 8 Plus?
No. None. Apple Lead Tech, Store Manager and several reps have heard the issue. I can create it on-demand. They are now saying it’s an app issue but ironically apps that historically were on demo units have been pulled..

This thread is so dead!

Just noticed this issue on the home screen - disappearing 4G and battery icons on right ear of iPhone X

Anyone else have this problem? It’s fine in apps, just on home screen.

The one bug I’m seeing is that when you’re listening to voice messages in iMessages the screen turns off and makes you listen to the message over again. Can anyone replicate that?

I have a similar problem with visual voice messages.
