I hope so, since I ran a backup of my 7 which was on Beta 2, turned it in through the iphone upgrade program and now can't restore my backup to my IPX. Effing brilliant, Apple!
Its Apple's fault that the consumer didn't check to see if there was an iPhone X .ipsw? Its on the consumer to do research before upgrading when they know they are getting a new phone.

Apple also makes very clear that the betas are for use on testing devices only. As part of the beta agreement, you agree that you understand those recommendations.

Apple used to be the company that "it just works" and would not have allowed this to occur. They did not have to have this situation, but for their own reasons did. I hope that means a beta update in a few minutes.

Again, for the 4th time in this thread? ... They did the same thing with 10.5 iPad. There was no backlash for it then. Not sure why its a problem now.

I was on iOS 11.2 Beta early this morning when I got home from work I downgraded to 11.1 by holding Option(Mac) and clicking update in iTunes and selecting the iOS 11.1 ipsw file. Came back up with 11.1 with all my information, I ran a backup on iTunes since my iCloud backup was newer than 11.1 activated X and updated to 11.1 and then restored from my backup. This is not Apples fault in any way.

What's supposed to work in relation to this still just works. What's not supposed to work that's where it's different. The issue isn't the reality, but the skewed perception of it.

It’s not ridiculous to think that Apple should have prepared for this by releasing a 11.2 beta for the iPhone X in advance or made it possible to restore from a 11.2 backup. It's a naive and outdated view to think that betas are exclusively installed on testing devices. The beta program is aimed at mainstream users now who want to try out new features before they're released to the general public and in exchange, provide feedback to Apple. This program is not exclusively aimed at tech-savvy users and the only warning on the public beta site is not to install on business devices. Apple should have been aware that this would cause inconvenience for the people they rely on for free software testing.

That being said, I doubt it will be more than a few days until Apple has a version of 11.2 available for the iPhone X, so this shouldn't affect anyone who isn't getting this phone on launch day. Personally, I'm just going to downgrade my 7 Plus as I wait for the UPS truck to show up with my new iPhone.

If you're on iOS 11.2, you can download iOS 11.1 and do an "update" to 11.1. Once you "update" to 11.1, do a back up, and then restore.

No one is faulting Apple. I just assumed that when a beta is released, it covers all devices, especially the newly released one. When I got my 10, I installed the Beta profile, and was surprised that it wouldn't offer an 11.2 update. I'm assuming it's in the works. My real issue is I have the 1Password app on my old phone that I can download from the app store, but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to log in. Oh well, live and learn.

It's not ridiculous, just as it's not ridiculous that it's the way it is right now.

Unless, of course, you've already returned your iphone 7 through the iphone upgrade program, then you're hosed.

Yeah but do you lose your text/iMessages? I saw somewhere that you lose those and your call history. Yet I've also seen posts saying that you don't lose anything as well...

I don't give a rip about call history, but I'd prefer to not lose all of my messages.

Well, it seems that some people are faulting Apple in one way or another.

They are aware. They have their reasons for not doing it.

When dealing with betas you should never be expecting a totally smooth experience. Use (stable release) backups to protect your data.

Can anyone confirm what health data you lose going back to 11.1? If I downgrade to 11.1 will I lose ALL health data or just what was collected on 11.2?

It might be helpful if they didn't entice you to update to the latest beta.

So from Apple's Dev Forum, it seems that the data is simply inaccessible-not deleted. People who have downgraded from 11.2 to 11.1, and could not see the data, could see it again by upgrading back to 11.2.

Does anyone know if iCloud keep multiple backups and it will let me choose a previous 11.1 backup?

Does anyone have iOS 11.1 or 11.2 installed on the iphone X?

or is ios 11.0.1 really the latest software for the iPhone X?

My iphone X shows that iOS 11.0.1 is the latest software.

- with or without beta profile
- several restarts

11.1 should be available.

I installed 11.1 on my X while I was still in the store.

Definitely available.
