Anybody else having trouble with iOS 11 and Honda and Acura Bluetooth systems?

I'm growing a little concerned after running through a few cars and finding several problems.

  • Low playback volume with stored audio
Low volume on Bluetooth calls making the call impossible
Contact names will not populate over numbers
Voice commands from Bluetooth HandsFreeLink no longer work

If anybody else is experiencing this, I want to urge you to provide Feedback using the application before we end up with iOS 11 being released in a version that is causing problems like this.

10.3.3 works fine but iOS 11 does not.

Multiple tests, multiple cars in a range from 2014 - 2018.

Excellent car tech audio post.

I have only recently updated iphone SE to io11 pb 5 -previously iPhone 6.

Renaul Clio medianav tech- I appreciate its not a Honda.

Though I honestly haven’t noticed any of the probs you mention.

I did post on another thread that Siri wasn’t very responsive with voice commands though that was earlier pb’s

Think I’ll re try Siri today -though suspect iOS 11 full version may improve things.

I can answer one question immediately-no probs with contact names populating over numbers -have you tried removing your device from Honda audio and re pairing- I did once in earlier beta.

Another question answered not noticed any low volume over Bluetooth calls-though i’ll Re test today.

Yes, I'm pretty sure we've tried every common notion. :)

It's across multiple models of Honda and Acura, across a five year model year range.

I just want to be sure it's fixed while there is still time to fix it.

Apple aficionado are strongly motivated and devoted. They *will* walk away from a car purchase because there's no Apple CarPlay, or because some function doesn't work correctly.

Maybe re test your honda once iOS 11 full version is released.

Not having any problems on 2015 Honda Accord. In fact since I installed iOS 11 beta new features have showed up when receiving calls. I now have the picture assigned to the contact show on my car display. Receiving calls, placing calls, volume all working normally.

BTW my Accord does not have Car Play.

2016 Honda Civic w/ Car Play - I had problems with the earlier betas, but all is working now. I should clarify, the only problems were with the bluetooth connecting. Car Play has been fine the entire time. Once PB4 was released, my bluetooth starting working fine. iPhone 6s on Verizon

Honda doesn't care. I love their cars, but hate their attitude towards the media system.

Recent model Hondas have severe latency issues with Bluetooth audio; Honda is aware of the problem and supposedly it's an easy fix, but they haven't bothered.

It's sad because I love my 2014 Accord otherwise. I just have to plug my iPhone in via USB to play audio if I want good performance.

Bluetooth calls+music excellent via Clio earlier pb5

Hope you at least try ios11 final version.

My contacts and recent calls are listed as expected.

Speaking to Siri hasn’t improved at all though I had to disconnect USB and only re tried speaking once with no response at all .

The volume controls/source can be adjusted individually (now?). When making a call via Bluetooth, increase the volume on the phone with the button. It will show "Bluetooth" as the source. The same thing for the Dock Connector -ALTHOUGH, I've notice that this one is screwy. When I crank up the volume for Dock Connector, I can no longer hear audio alerts. I can hear music fine. I have to lower the volume to at least 1/4 to hear audio alerts.

Btw, not Honda but Jeep (Uconnect).

Report back?

I have a 2015 Acura TLX with technology package and iOS 11 final release on iPhone 7 is not working as expected contact names are not syncing with numbers.

I have a 2015 Acura TLX Tech and I am also having numerous issues with the official released iOS 11 (on iPhone 6S) and the Bluetooth in the car.
- The in car Pandora app does not display correctly anymore, doesn’t allow for skipping tracks, thumbs up/down, etc and for that matter most options are now greyed out. I must now connect to the car’s USB to fully operate Pandora.
- Contact names do not populate over the phone numbers consistently anymore, on some drives they populate, but usually they aren’t there anymore.
- Siri does not work consistently anymore, often not at all. Now I just get a beep from the car and it goes back to Audio rather than activating Siri.

iOS 11 has pretty much ruined my in car iPhone experience.

UPDATE 10/1/17 - Upgraded to iPhone 8 Plus (iOS 11.0.1). Now the in car Pandora app does not function at all (via either Bluetooth or USB cable). Also, still have same issues as described above. However, Siri seems to work more consistently without the phone connected to the cars USB.

I don’t drive a Honda/Acura, but I do have one of the problems you mentioned after updating. Mine rings so blaringly loud, yet the actual call volume is so low it’s almost impossible to hear the caller.

I have unpaired and repaired with the same result. The ringer volume is so bad, it’s almost to the point where I don’t know if I’ll be able to continue using it to take calls in the car.

I tried this, but nothing happens.

Same problem here with a '14 Accord Touring. I tweeted Honda customer service and they actually called me in a couple of days (quite impressed). They said they've been flooded with inquiries about this problem and that it is indeed an iOS 11 problem, not Honda/Acura related - so we just need to wait for Apple to get it right. :(

All the issues are still present on iOS 11.1 beta 1 , I'm done with iOS I'm switching to Android

What a mess. I haven't upgraded to iOS 11, but got a note from IT that we have to update by mid-October to continue to use our Blackberry Work app. I need to be able to connect to work, but it's a crappy tradeoff to lose compatibility with my car. (15 Acura TLX)

I have the 2013 Honda Accord EX-L. I'm having the same issue with the contacts and phone book. For some odd reason, my iPhone 7 (since updating to iOS 11) has this issue with recent calls showing the number rather than the names and no Phone book after a few minutes. My iPhone 6 is fine with the update. Strange. My iPhone 7 was fine with 10.3.3. Glad I'm not the only one.

Issue with USB connection with Hyundai 2012; (loading error);
I hope 10.0.3 will fix it...

You sure it's not 11.0.2 that introduced your problem? (it introduced it with my 2011 Hyundai Tucson).

Luckily I have a 6s, so I can still downgrade to 10.3.3, then upgrade to 11.0.1 (I have an Apple Watch - so I need iOS 11 - WatchOS 4 won't work with iOS 10 and I can't downgrade the watch).

I also had to upgrade to beta 11.1 to pull this off (got an error 65 from iTunes if I attempted to downgrade from 11.0.2).

Oh...and Apple hides all of your iCloud backups that aren't 11.0.2....and won't let you backup to iCloud with pre-11.0.2 devices (likely after you've made the update).

So, you can't restore on earlier versions, unless you were smart enough to make an iTunes backup to your local machine before you updated (I didn't because I thought I could rely on iCloud backups....never again).

Edit: I've confirmed that iCloud backup is no longer permitted on earlier versions than 11.0.2 when you downgrade - neither 10.3.3 nor 11.0.1 can do iCloud backups any longer.

New error message on 11.0.1:
"The last backup could not be completed because iCloud contains a backup from a newer iOS version"
