Anyone have iOS 11 on a iPad Mini 2? If so how does it run? Should I just stay with 10 and avoid 11? I would like to upgrade to the iPad Mini 4 but at this time cannot afford to do so so need to stay with the 2. If IOS 11 will slow it down I wont install it.

In my opinion, iOS 11 is absolutely dreadful on the Mini 2 even if you turn a bunch of features off. Not one animation renders properly while going through the operating system. The new features of 11 don't even benefit the 2 that much so there's not much reason to update.
The Mini 2 was a great product pre-iOS 9 but once that update came it killed the device. It's only getting worse with more updates, so I would stay on the earliest firmware you can until you can upgrade.

It's good for reading and causal surfing. Anything else is pretty rough. I can watch videos in Plex or Netflix, as well, but doing so with picture-in-picture while surfing doesn't really work.
I ran the iOS 11 public betas on my Mini 2 but now that we're pretty much done with that I've rolled back to 10.3.3. I have not decided if I'll upgrade.

I wont be upgrading the mini 2 and I also may not upgrade my iPhone 6s. Heck I probably wont upgrade my Mac neither to High Sierra.
Just so you know the 6s processor is two generations newer, it handles iOS 11 much better.
Yeah I agree. The SE (has the same processor as the 6s) runs 11 quite well as well.
Welp! In my opinion it’s not too bad at all. I’m pleasantly surprised, actually. Definitely some delays here and there but by no means would I, personally, forego the iOS 11 upgrade over them - particularly having other iDevices on iOS 11.

I have had it on my mini 2 since public beta 3 I think. at that time I wanted to throw it out the window because performance was horrid and so was battery life. It is much better now, but there is some lag. I don't use mine very heavily now, so the lag doesn't bother me too much. Animations are sometimes choppy, so it is a toss-up on whether to upgrade or not. The new dock and multi-tasking features are really cool although the mini 2 doesn't have split screen. I will move up to a Pro one day (though, it's it funny that the minis have higher ppi than the Pros... figure that one out)
I had previously tried one of the betas on mine and it was nearly unusable.
However I braved the GM and it’s running as good as iOS 10 did. There are some jittery animations when using universal search or bringing up multitasking, but it’s bit of a non issue.
The enhancements like the new keyboard and swipe up for multitasking make it a much more fluent iPad experience in my opinion.

I'm still on IOS 10 and may stay there.
Would like to have heard back from the thread starter, but I took a chance and installed iOS 11.0.2 on my mini 2 last night. No problems at all to report either during the installation or after. No slowdowns, no battery issues. Am pleased with the new look and improvements.
It can be sluggish at times.

I also gained a bit more disk space. It runs just as well as version 10 ddi I agree.
I think it's a great upgrade today and (unfortunately) will probably be a great upgrade for another year or more. And, honestly, if Apple surprises us, you can either hold off upgrading to the Mini 5 until you feel like you've gotten the value you want out of the Mini 4, or sell it and upgrade. Might it cost you a hundred or two? Yeah, I guess so. To me, the Mini 4 was such an upgrade that I'd be happy if it worked out that way. Hope it works out well for you and you enjoy the new Mini.
It runs fine on my Mini 2. I don’t do a ton of intensive stuff on it, like gaming or video editing, so the upgrade is good for my purposes. I mostly stream and watch videos and share pics, do social media.
