I will update my iPhone 6S to iOS 11 maybe next year like iOS 11.2 /11.3.1 or something like that.. iOS 11.1 Beta 4 is still BUGGY (Battery Drains, Sometimes not charging, TouchID issues) and SLOW like a turtle and almost like a 4S in iOS 9... Camera loads like 2 seconds compared to 0.3 seconds on iOS 10.3.3.. I was impress by the smooth animations, and closing apps but when launching app is disaster just like my boyfriend. It's easy to exit but takes too long to be open minded.

Hmmm I dont really know if I can trust anyone if they say iOS 11 is "smooth". There are idiots out there who say android is smooth. Some people have horrible eyes and are just incapable of distinguishing between a stuttering 20fps and a smooth 60fps animation.

When I updated my iPhone SE (same hardware as 6s) to iOS 11 it was h-o-r-r-i-b-l-e. Scrolling in safari was laggy, pinch-to-zoom laggy, scrolling through multitasking view was laggy, scrolling in mails-app laggy, the new app-store was a total lag-disaster. I instantly moved back to 10.3.3.

I updated as suggested to 11.1 beta. Whilst not exactly smooth, if you are having problems, you will see a considerable improvement.

Has anyone else noticed any issues with TouchID when charging since iOS11? Unplugged, it's fine, but when I plug it in at night and try and unlock it, it either sits on the lock screen and needs another press on the home button or will sit on the passcode screen waiting for TouchID (even with my finger on the sensor) or pass-code. Unplug the phone and it immediately unlocks to the home screen. Very odd and only started with iOs11.

Have things improved in updates for people with poor performance, or are people just being normalized to the reduced performance?

GarageBand's iOS 11-only update is pissing me off ...

Lockscreen notifications are still a buggy mess. They are sometimes clipped, freeze when using forcetouch, or smush together. Battery life is slightly worse but not crazy bad.

Is there yet a similar thread for iPad Pro 12.9" (2015) users or should I create one?

No issues with performance on a 6S+

They need to do something about the battery hit. Not enough changes to justify it.

One thing people need to remember, you'll stop getting a lot of updates to apps if you don't update. Apps like 1password and overcast are iOS 11 only moving forward. You can keep using the old version of course, but on apps that sync data to the cloud it will cause you problems eventually.

So even if your battery has taken a bit of a hit, you need to upgrade anyway so live with it or buy a new iPhone.

Has iOS 11.1 improved the battery life on 6s?

Also, can we still downgrade 6s back to iOS 10.3.3? I'm thinking about trying 11.1, but I want to be able to go back if the battery drain problem has not been solved.

The 6s can still downgrade as of now.

Ok, battery life is now actually ok.

Updated to 11.1 via iTunes. Still has my old location settings, background notifications tweaked.

Currently sat on 71% battery.

Usage: 3hrs 54 mins
Standby: 8hrs 51 mins

That is perfectly fine. Texting, streaming quite a bit of Twitch and some web browsing.

Looking at around 9-10hrs usage or 10% per hour which is basically what I got in 10.3

Happy now.

Had a similar experience on my SE. Battery was horrible with just straight OTA update. Restored as new via iTunes and battery was back to 10.3.3. I then restored my phone again and battery went back to bad again. I am running my phone as new and seeing if battery is good again and adding apps one-by-one.

Did you restore from a backup on 6s or as new?

Glad that iOS 11.2 Made my iPhone SE faster in boot up by almost half haha.. But Gosh,it's still slower when it comes to launching third party apps and heavy games or something like that on iOS 11.2 Vs iOS 10.3.3

how are everyone's 6s holding up thus far? any improvements?
My 6S has been great on 11.2.1. Battery life is back to 7-8 hours use and no noticeable slow down in performance. Only two minor glitches are weather widget won’t update reliably and the message bug (when you start a new message with only a single emoji). For me it’s just as good as 10.3.3 considering I had a email not updating issue(I had to force quit the mail app and open it again to delete or move mail to a different folder) until I upgraded to iOS 11.

Im happy that im still on 10.3.3
Yes you should just stay at iOS 10.3.3 because iOS 10 is much snappier and less bugs.
Right now iPhone 6S in iOS 11 is still OK just like iPhone 4S in iOS 7 which occasional stutters, its unexpected crashing apps is now expected at this point since its 2 years old... its still fast for others but would never be as smooth like it did on iOS 9. Sadly the 6s even fast would continue to get slower as iOS progress like progressive disease.

iOS 13 would be the last update for the 6S

Really no issues running iOS 11 on my 6S. I have a relatively new battery (free replacement program). With all the security issues lately, I want to keep it updated to the latests iOS. Maybe I won't update to 12, but we will see.

Glad that iOS 11.2 Made my iPhone SE...

So do you have actual experience with a 6S or are you just regurgitating internet lore?

My 6S has only 1 minor bug (the personal hotspot button occasionally gets partially hidden), but frankly its perfectly fine and fast (inc all the 3rd party apps I have), no reason not to upgrade.

Just replaced my battery in the iPhone 6S myself - after an Apple reseller refused to do it. They lost my custom for life after their nonsense of my 'bent' phone - it's absolutely not bent, we had it on a steel rule and couldn't see any bend, all he did was eyeball it. The screen went back in without any issue.

Anyway it's completely transformed my 6S to feeling like new again. I'm extremely happy and will be keeping this for atleast another 18 months.
