Do we have any way to identify the RC builds? Like a build number or some flat in the code?

It is usually from file size between the builds and end letter (f-a). If Apple finds this build is not ready, it can release another beta 16F51XXa. If this build is ready, it will take the build number 16F156.

Beta 5 was 16F5155a and beta 6 is 16F5156a so only one build up so not much significant change in coding.

Most .X are up to beta 6 with special instance beta 7 to correct major/critical bugs.

Software development: Pre-alpha > Alpha > Beta > RC > Release

There were some connection issues with beta 5 on China Telecom. Hopefully this update will fix this.

Hopefully this beta fixes some Wi-Fi issues.. but this beta started right up on my Max after slow downs. No lags. No nothing.
Safari is snappier lol

Betas 5 and 6 have been stellar on the 8, performance-wise and snappiness-wise. Battery life has taken a hit.

My unofficial and subjective test is based on boot-up speed. I tend to find that the last build before release always has the phone booting up noticeably faster than previous betas. As fast as the final release itself.

This latest beta boots up really fast (6S).

So far all my WiFi issues are FINALLY fixed in this beta. No sudden drops in medium signal strength areas no more and consistent speed.

First time on 12.3 betas that I experience iMessage crash where it randomly goes black and takes you back to home screen. Not sure what replicates it.. happens randomly as I was typing.

Nice. What about cellular?

Unfortunately, I think they've done everything that can be done with this particular hardware (A1921).

It's disappointing, but at least they've got it to "Acceptable" even if it will never be "Excellent."

My old LG V30 has better signal capture.

And now I get this! Never have I ever received this.

After updating yesterday, I got 2 phone calls, neither of which connected when I tried to do so. Reported.

Yea let’s hope they don’t touch it again. For cellular it seems stable. Signal still sucks in weak areas. I’ll know more next week if the bugs reappear.

One thing I noticed though is increased download speed in weak signal areas. Looks like they tuned MIMO more.

2am. Inside my bed room, in my NYC apt in Harlem. Usually get around 10-30mbps in the same area.

Maybe, as noted above, they’ve got it as good as it can be this generation. At least it’s improved...I guess

I don't think it's Apple doing this. I think it's T-Mobile.

WiFi roaming on my iPhone 7 seems to be broken as of this beta , instead of connecting to the nearest access point it connects to the main router instead Which makes it switches to mobile data from time to time

Try turning off wifi assist. (although I don't understand your use case of nearest access point vs main router). Are you saying that you are at home and you want to phone to connect to an access point outside of the house?

I’m trying to have my phone to connect to the access point in my room but instead my phone decided to connect to the main router at the other end of my house (outside my room)

What do you mean by WiFi assist, is it the one in the mobile data settings ?

Having iMessage issues. I read a message on my phone, doesn’t sync as read to iPad. Both have beta 6 on them.

Are they the same SSID? What bands? WiFi assist is in cellular.

I have had problems using my iPhone Xs Max as a hotspot for my iPad Pro on previous betas but tried today and it worked great.

Not sure if its this beta that has sorted it because I have not tried it for a few weeks but happy that it is now working!
