Weird new bug - in News under Following, if you select Edit to rearrange the Channels/Topics after moving your selection up too quickly it’ll crash the app. Took a screen recording, but guess you can’t upload videos via Tapatalk smh

Will report.

Siri has been smarter lately. Now it knows when rain starts falling during the day and you can it when does it finish.

Example of some of the data issues we see.

It’s basically random apps acting like you don’t have any internet. Yet, your internet, as seen above, works fine. One app this happens to most is Google Maps.

Just sucks it’s not easily reproducible.

Update on WiFi

Totally more stable than previous betas. Internet is more consistent as well.

Update on performance

My phone is back to being addictive again. I still see stutters here and there but the overall performance is smooth.

Was interested in trying dark mode in the public beta 13 when released but I was poking around this beta and saw a smart invert option in accessibility settings. The full option has been there but don’t recall seeing the smart option. Been using it awhile. Kinda nice if you like it dark. Changes 3rd party apps which is cool. Not for everyone but anyone else try it?

Having cellular signal issues on AT&T.
First in city of SF, now in Atlanta (both with b4).
Rebooted. Pulled SIM. Time auto and manual. Doesn’t matter.

Yea today. I was doing some testing on T-Mobile new network, then my phone kept randomly loosing signal while I was with the team. They saw it and said something is up with the modem. A hour later at Times Square, it drop signal again. Then a few hours later. This is so annoying.

I think one of them is interested in writing a story about it.

Smart invert is better, but images in Safari/Chrome, mail in GMail, etc. are still odd.
Also (obviously - I think) night mode turns off, so the home screen is whiter if you do it at night (the more likely time to enable dark mode).
It's better - but a work in progress.
I don't see the (battery) benefit that my wife sees (8+ vs Xs).

The signal thing is really bad today, and nuking my battery.
I’m going back to 12.3.

He writes on pcmag I believe.

I had to revert to 12.3.1.

The disconnects were too frequent and it was getting annoying triggering airplane mode just to get data again (with full LTE bars). Something they're doing with the modem/carrier settings isn't making the phone happy.

Part of me feels like they make it better for Verizon users one update, then the Tmobile users notice **** performance; and vice versa? I know there's supposed to be different settings for the carriers and modem firmware but there is definitely a trend in these beta threads.

Thinking about downgrading as well. For me, the issue is the WiFi; a connection doesn't last long at all -- although interestingly it seems to stay connected if I actively stream something. Not sure if it's because it keeps the phone awake, or just the data connection live.

How painful was downgrading?

WiFi got super better with this update for me. My only issue is it’s range is still weak.

I get a lot of cellular disconnects though. I went to the Apple store and they just had me swap the sim out. Later that day lost all bars again lol.

Thanks, Ram. I'm noticing something interesting at work today (I suspected this last week but wanted to confirm): my wifi connectivity is just fine at my workplace. So this seems to be router/network specific somehow. Maybe I'll mess around with some router settings at home to see what I can do, but if anyone has suggestions, please let me know.

Downgrading is painless. Download the 12.3.1 ipsw and open iTunes and hold down shift while clicking "Check for Update" while your iPhone is connected. Select the 12.3.1 ipsw you downloaded.

I mean I only got a issue with medium signal strength. So there’s that. And always when on 5Ghz. I noticed similar issues today while at the movies where I usually get connected just fine to WiFi there. Anyways. I just upgraded to iOS 13 beta 2. So far. Similar issue.

Darn. I was hoping that those issues would be finally fixed in 13. Honestly, I think it’s just something that we’ll have to accept until upgrade time (2020).

Interesting update: I changed my 5 GHz network at home to use a manual DNS rather than automatic, and set it to the Google DNS addresses. No disconnects at all after doing this, both last night for about 6 hours and again this morning. I left the 2.4 GHz connection set to automatic and when I forced my XR to connect to that one, the disconnect problem returned. So for the moment, this simple change seems to have had a huge impact for me.

Oh and for me, signal strength doesn't seem to be a factor. The disconnects were occurring whether I was right next to the router or several rooms away.

I have had great WiFi speeds and No disconnects for WiFi,but i do get the “not auto connect” from saved WiFi
