Hi everyone,
is it just me, or is the new iOS 12 battery screen lacking information that were there until iOS 11?

Specifically, until now it was possible to see how many hours the iPhone was actually used and in standby since it was last charged. The new battery screen only shows usage (screen on and screen off) during the last 24 hours or 7 days, but not since the last charge.

Am I just not looking in the right place, or has this information actually been removed?

Why do they have to add things but remove helpful stuff? I use that a lot to check how different apps impact battery life. And, more precisely, how different usage patters throughout the day impact battery life. I loved that feature ever since it was introduced on iOS 6. Can't they just add what they added without removing helpful functionality?

Yeah, they either did it on purpose or didn't put it due to a redesign of the section. I hope it's the second case.

Yeah they gotta put usage since last fully charged back! Wow. I didn’t realize they took that out! Everyone submit feedback! The new features are cool but that is a core function we have all relied on to track our batteries for a long time now.

Unfortunately it was removed. Hopefully in future betas or the final version of iOS 12 it’ll be added back.

Yeah, it's been gone.. ticks me off really. AND its replacement data-Screen on/off time/whatever, doesn't work. Never has in all public betas. I submitted feedback.. I went back to 11. Won't upgrade until they put workable standby data back in!

Probably I am a naive, but I hope that it will be put back. I am surprised with how new interesting battery stats were added, but this useful one was removed.

I agree at first it's weird this has gone, but I'm starting to think the vast majority of the time it's not needed now we have the extra data.

Just look at the 10 day view and you'll see how much battery you used every day for the last 10 days. You can compare this to activity in the chart below, to see how it varies with activity, and select a day to see the app breakdown of the day.

Checking time since last charge only gives you a single look at battery use. This new view gives you much more.

Please give me use-cases for "time since last charged" that you don't think can be fulfilled by the new views. Not saying there aren't any - just interested to hear what they are. I'm wondering if perhaps some of them are dependent on a way of thinking which isn't necessary any more?

You can still get the time since last fully charged but you have to do the work now. You have to go on the chart and find when you were last at 100% and then select each hour and manually add up the screen on and off usage time yourself until empty. Supper annoying but still possible to get kind of what we had before.

Not beneficial in any way. Why not keep both? As I said earlier, it's just removing useful things for the sake of it

Probably removed because the battery performance of one cycle isn’t a good enough indicator of battery life. Look at the 10 day view to see how much battery used every day for the last 10 days, including the current day.

Yes it is/was, thats what battery life is.. not battery life SPAN.
Eh? Life span is about how long before the battery can’t hold charge sufficiently well enough. Life span will usually be months or years.

If you want an idea how long your battery lasts from day to day, you can’t get a full picture from one day, because there might be anomalies, you might have used it more than usual, been in low reception areas, had more notifications than usual, etc. That’s why looking at it over the last few days gives you a better picture. And besides, you can choose to ignore previous days in that view and just look at how much battery has been used today if you want.

Apple is a train with only limited number of capacities. Instead of increasing the capacity and/or horsepower of the train, they decide to throw stuff away, regardless of usefulness. (Sorry I just want to say that lol)
And I miss that feature too.

It feels like that the battery life is much better with the betas. But it’s not possible to say that 100% bc apple removed that useful informations.

I know, but it doesn't make any sense to put the nonsense they've put. They replaced it with something less useful. If so, why replace it at all? In my opinion, it was the only way to accurately measure battery life - both throughout iOS versions, and devices. It was also used in this forum ubiquitously to compare usage with new devices, as well.
Anyway, I never update my devices, I'll still have the information. I'm just thinking about the future. When I upgrade - I'll eventually will - I'll lose the information. It's awful. Unless someone comes with an app like battery logger on the Mac. I've been using that flawlessly.

This is the world we are living right now: tons of new stuff but barely anything can last more than a decade. Of course, those new products are not just better than the old ones.

What does screen off mean in the battery usage?? I can’t find that info anywhere.

Hi folks,

Apologies if this has been done to death, but would you happen to know how I can obtain battery usage stats in iOS 12 since the last recharge?

It only appears to show me the last 24 hours in which the phone had been back on the charger. Doesn't really help me work out the actual usage. (The way it was previously)

Is there a way to provide stats since the previous charge to 100% ?

Thanks

It’s mostly background usage when the screen is off yet it doesn’t seem to be totally accurate. I ran 15 miles yesterday while listening to Spotify. I also listened to some podcasts with the screen off and the background times added up not do not equal the screen off time. I’m confused as well....

Exactly, I noticed the data is incorrect, it always seems less than the actual background usage.
