I suppose this is probably the right move, but this news greatly disappoints me. I, personally, couldn’t care less about things like a system-wide dark mode...but I *do* find myself praying for a new home screen layout every time a new iOS is released.
The fact that iOS still uses the grid pattern that starts in the top left corner of the screen is absolutely ridiculous. I want the option to place icons wherever I’d like, because it’s pretty annoying and stupid to have to use “blank” home screen icons just to force my apps to reside within easy reach of my thumb:
iOS 11 is definitely buggy, and focusing on tightening up the software is a great idea. I just really wish I blissfully ignorant to the fact that we were going to get a redesigned home screen this summer (iOS 12 beta) and now we most likely won’t.
Honestly, a home screen with more customization for icon placement and widgets is the #1 thing I wanted in iOS 12. Oh well.
