wow... i stop using 5s since new battery and ios 12 didn't changed a thing. Using redmi 5 now. 2 days usage .Super duper extreme usage 1 days.

5s user here and I have had unusually high battery drain immediately after upgrading to iOS 12.

I waited several days for indexing, deleted unused apps, drained and recharged, performed a hard reset, but nothing seemed to help. Only when I thought to turn off Screentime did my battery revert back to iOS 11 levels.

I don’t need the Screentime feature so it’s not a problem to me whether it is the culprit or not, but I’d recommend you at least try turning it off if you have an ‘old’ phone.

if i revert to 10.. :( 10 is awesome battery life.

Wait do you have the same battery as when you had 10-that's a more likely explanation.
not the same battery.. last month change twice. The reason i changed was after updating ios 11, battery get worst each day.. Since i cannot afford to wait ios 12 patch, i use my huawei nova lite and redmi 5 as main driver. After replace new battery before ios 11 and after ios 12. I would assume on thing.. IOS 11,12 keep switching 4G,WIFI (wifi assist)(even i disabled it) which drain the battery quite quick compare to my samsung tab within the same range to the wifi modem.

I literally joined to post this here. So frustrating.

This is a XS Max setup from scratch and I am setting the same behaviour on my iPad Pro and iPad mini

Mine was horrible few days after update, then it got back to normal.

For me (see image above for details), this is 5 days after installing from scratch. 5 days. I've never seen a battery impact on setting up an iPhone before and I've done a fair few. Frustrating

Also experiencing worse battery life since updating from 10 to 12 on my SE. My 6 has had no such issues. All the more odd since my SE was the one with amazing battery life. Weirdest part is that the battery percentage drops in batches. It'll be a 50% and then drop to 48 or 47% while I'm looking at it (not doing anything major, not using GPS or watching a video). I've been through plenty of updates and never seen this before.

When I did the update, I was charging but the battery percentage still dropped 10% and the SE was REALLY hot after. Battery health at 90%

The key is 10 to 12 (or 10 to 11).
12 seems slightly better than 11. 11 totally sucks compared to 10.
My iPhone 6s “auto updated” from 10 to 11 a month ago. Distinct change is battery life. Bad!

I heard a quote, “software is the process of taking a diamond and covering it with dirt”. Seems appropriate for iOS 11.

Should have seen this thread earlier.

10.3.3 SE user here with terrible battery life after updating to iOS12.

Barely an hour after getting out of bed and it lost 10% already.

iPhone se updated to iOS 12 from 10 and have battery drain issues as well. has anyone done a clean install and setup as a new phone see any improvements in battery? or clean install of 11.4.1?

After a long chat with apple support yesterday I signed out of iCloud and then back in. It’s early days but I think it has helped. Give it a try?

I set up my device as new and had the same horrific drain. Then I did as I described above and after around 10 hours of usage, I am feeling cautiously optimistic so ‍♂️

ios12 has made my iPhone 7 plus' battery about 10x better than iOS11 was at the end. a month ago i was getting to 50% after 2 hours use for no real reason and now i'm at like 90 after the same use. LOVE iOS12 for this reason more than anything

Didn't do me any good. Just like the advice to turn off screen time monitoring...didn't do much if any for my SE.

Just thought I'd add my experience.
Have an iPhone 8 and a was similarly getting dreadful battery life - about 6% drain per hour whether I was using it or not.
Tried turning off new features such as Screentime as well as some other apps, but made no difference.
Looked at this forum and reminded me about draining until the phone switched itself off and then charging to 100%.
Did that and it seems to have cured it. Last charged to 100% at 11pm and still at 100% at 8.30am this morning.
Remembered that I had to do something similar for my iPad a while ago after a point update caused a similar battery issue.
