iOS 12 Text Selection Issues [MERGED]

Not until the site owner updates/upgrades the forum software and even then its continent that xenforo's newer versions fixes the issue.

Seems like that's what the "hopeless" comment in that context seemed to imply. (Unless that was misread somehow.)

I don’t know if this has been brought up before or if it’s something I’m doing wrong but when I go to create or edit a post and I need to highlight text it never seems to work as I think it should.

I get the two selection brackets but when I try to drag one of them a few words to the left or right it will jump up and select the whole paragraph. It makes selectively selecting blocks of text next to impossible.


I don’t know if this is an iOS issue or a site scripting issue.

It's an issue with this site and has been posted about before. Here's a workaround found by @Huntn.

I've requested that this thread be merged with the one linked above to keep everything consolidated.

as the thread title says. When I browse macrumors on either my iPhone or iPad, i can’t select text within replies. Any attempt to highlight text highlights all of the text. It makes it extremely hard to participate in back and forth discussions.

This is a fairly new phenomenon... maybe since iOS 12? Not sure. But it’s only on macrumors, so I don’t think it’s my devices.

Has anyone else experienced this?

It’s working for me. Could be due to the 11.2 beta in conjunction with Xenforo update.

Btw, on my iPad, since the selecting text issue stopped, I’m noticing frequently that after I edit a post at MacRumors, I can’t get the virtual keyboard to retract, without refreshing the page. Anyone else seeing this?
