Right now only iPhone 7, 8 and X are still fast on iOS 11, while 6S is Trying hard the regular 6 is not as good as 6s though.. 64 bit does not matter if its cpu is so underpowered especially for 1.3 Ghz and below..

What a pile of crap.. and well, obviously a 6S will always be faster than a 6 on ANY iOS version.. Theres several 6S & some 6's in this house, all are absolutely fine, one of the 6 even has throttling on cause it's battery is nearing the end, still fine performance.

People seem to put to much emphasis on simply more GHz there’s more to CPU performance than raw GHz. To digress a little, each new gen CPU is usually more efficient per the same Mhz as the last (Pentium 4 being the opposite as they traded efficiency for Ghz for marketing purposes), its not just Ghz it's also the IPC (instructions per clock cycle) that you need to take into account, You can for example have a 1Ghz CPU be more powerful than a 1.5Ghz one (best example being the AMD Athlons and older Intel Pentium IIIs in the early 2000's when they beat higher clocked Intel Pentium 4s in most benchmarks or like how lower clocked Intel Core 2 models started decimating the Athlons IIs/Phenoms by the late 2000s). Even with routers take a look at the 1.4-1.7Ghz Qualcomm IPQ 8064/65 based (similar to Cortex A15) routers like the Netgear R7500v2/R7800/Synology RT2600AC/Asus AC828, they crush the older Broadcocm (1.4 Ghz Arm Cortex A9) based routers like the Asus AC88U/Netgear R8500, in VPN and CPU intensive tasks.

Well you do know what devices are below 1.3Ghz??? i Think iPad Air on iOS 11 is similar to iOS 10 it's a little better than iPad Mini 2/3 due to 100Mhz higher. but not on other Devices such as 1.3Ghz and below. You know yourself though, what iOS devices clocked on 1.3Ghz and below. Isn't it the CPU is responsible for launching an app quicker? not just based on Ram or something like that.

A8 and A7 with 1GB of RAM (so excluding iPad mini 4/iPad Air 2) are about the same in terms of performance on 11 so I think they both may be cut off. We’ll see. It leaves those devices in an awkward place, and it makes me wonder why the Mini 4 didn’t just receive the A9 instead, as it came out in Nov 2015. Apple being suspicious again...
Well Actually iPad Mini 4 and Air 2 will 100% Get iOS 12 they may even get iOS 13. though cuz they are more Closer to the performance of A9 than to A8 Due to 2GB Ram. in IOS 10 iPhone 5/5S/6 are almost at the same still fast speed. but 5S/6 is wrecked on iOS 11 just like the iPhone 4S in iOS 9.

on iPhone 6/ 6Plus it will be only 16.6% Chance to get iOS 12 cuz it's so much slower in iOS 11

While iPhone 5S has only 2.77 % Chance to get iOs 12 Because otherwise, the overheating issue like straining it's old hardware will be avoided if iOS 11 it's the last update. Rest in peace A7 Devices

In the End only the iPhone 5 is the FIRST iPhone that doesn't Lag or Stutter at it's last update unlike older iPhones due to 1.3Gigahertz which can be founded also in A7 Devices such as iPhone 5S and iPad Mini 2.

Peformance depends on mutiple factors, storage speed, RAM speed & availability, and also the CPU. Also the iPhone 5 was a single core device while the 5S on are multi core with the 8/X being Hexa Core, that itself has a huge impact on performance/multitasking. The 8/X Hexa core CPU is competitive with dual core Intel i7/i5 U (15 Watt) series laptop CPUs in benchmarks which tells you how far things have come since the A6 in the iPhone 5. In addition for example a single A7 core set at 1Ghz would be crushed by an A11 core at 1Ghz (high performance core). So also take into account increased performance from architectural differences such as die shrinks and other tweaks in addition to increasing clock rates, plus additional cores on top of that and you have a much bigger difference in performance.

The iPhone 4s and 5 are multi core. The 4 was the last single core device and it did make a big difference.

They will probably cut off support for all pre A8 devices. A8 devices with 1 GB RAM are likely to be supported in iOS 12.

Honestly, they should only support A8 + 2 GB RAM devices though.

I agree. I have a 6 and as much as I would love for it to get iOS 12 on it iOS 11 has slowed it down pretty good on my phone. It is still usable but it has had a dramatic decrease and my battery is still real good. I do think though the 6 will get iOS 12 as it was still being sold as recently as last summer as I bought one from Straight Talk to replace an old 5s.

No chance the iPhone 5S will get iOS 12.

I think Apple will release iOS 12 for the 6, even if it runs like complete crap, simply because they have never dropped support for 2 consecutive generations iPhones at the same time.

I disagree. Much actually points to the iPhone 5s getting iOS12 (which btw will be a feature slim update aimed at improving performance and stability).

It doesn't matter, but it's based on Specification of an old device. Those who votes on 5s getting iOS 12 are either:
> Stuck with an old iPhone
> Cannot Afford to buy newer minimum iPhone (iPhone 6/6S and SE and above)
> Can't accept the Fact that the 5S is old since time is too fast.

Just like Rafaela say's in Mobile Legends, We should just PRAY for iPhone 5S like 3% chance of getting iOS 12 not 0% or totally not.

iPhone 6 is slow with iOS 11.0 or 11.3 and anything in between.

A8 and older devices are simply slow running iOS 11. I don't see those devices speeding up with iOS 12.
Is just like my iPhone 6S it's so freaking slow on iOS 11.3 like 1-2 seconds delay when i compared it to my friends iPhone 6S on iOS 9.3.5. i was at iOS 9.3.5 couple of months ago, until i accidentally hit the update and i was dead.

i also compared my iPhone 6s to my Sister's latest iPhone X and her iPhone X is about 1 to 6 seconds faster i was like 6 seconds delay on heavy gaming.

I think the 5S and 6/6 Plus, iPad Air will go around the same time, whenever it may happen, more due to the memory limitation than the CPU which honestly are not too bad though obviously not great compared to newer gen CPUs in terms of basic OS/tasks. Even the original iPad Air chokes more from the memory bottleneck than the CPU. After newer iOS updates to the 1GB RAM models, My old Sony Xperia Z3/LG G3 are more fluid than those devices even though though they have a crappier Snapdragon 801 CPU, simply because they have a lot more RAM for multitasking.

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd NoB0Dy C@r3s about y0ur 0p1ni0n. Then how come iPod Touch 4th Gen and iPhone 3GS with WORST SPECS than iPad 1 get's iOS 6? While iPad 1 didn't even it has better specs than both iPod Touch 4th generation and iPhone 3GS? In apple, Newer Generation or the product THAT IS STILL ACTIVE on the Apple Store like iPod Touch 6th Generation will live longer. But non of those A6/A7 Devices are no longer in the market, for almost 2-3 years. What you just need to do is to MOVE ON, move FORWARD. Nothing last forever, even LIFE.

Nowhere did I say anything needs to be supported for any length of time, nor would it bother me if the 5S/6 is no longer supported. Merely stating that RAM is probably the bigger bottleneck than the CPU for those devices.. You seem to want others to care about your opinion but dismiss others views...........with CAPS and all lol. No need to be childish, you can act civil with a proper conversation but whatever. In addition you act like you know everything about how these things work so maybe you should go advise the engineers lol.

Your reactions are pretty funny lol.

I think Apple will continue to deliver 4 to 5 years of support for their phones.
So 5s is hit or miss, but 6 will receive at least one major update, although there isn't much technical necessity for dropping the 5s yet.

Android devices with CPUs on that performance level are still running totally okay, so Apple should be able to give you acceptable performance with iOS as well, if they invest enough development time.

At the end 1 GB RAM is the issue for most users, but Apple isn't known for capping support by RAM, they are doing it by CPU.

Not true, otherwise iPad 1 and iPod Touch 4 would have gotten iOS 7 like the the iPhone 4. Deciding factor was RAM in that case. iPad 1 should have gotten iOS 6, same RAM as iPod Touch 4.

I have ABSOLUTELY no idea how you come up with those percentage numbers. But I believe iOS 12 will be delivered to all iOS devices from A7. iOS 13 will cut A7 and A8 off together, or at least A7, since A8 has been used in more than one device (even first gen HomePod ). Apple should not drop the support of that A8 too soon.

Well, iPhone 5/5S/6 Are all 1.3 Giga hertz. So far, only iPhone 5 from 2012 (Not S) is the only iPhone that is FAST on it's last iOS update which is iOS 10 right? In some Area like Clock, Camera Launching is fast on iOS 10 than on iOS 6.

But as of now, it's so sad that almost all iPhones on their last updates like iPhone 2GS up to iPhone 5S are so slow on their LAST iOS update. but not on iPhone 5 though even it has almost same specs on 5S. Now try to compare the iPhone 5 iOS 10 vs iPhone 5S/6 on iOS 11 i think iPhone 5 is like 2 times faster than both device. But even it's fast on iOS 10 did not get iOS 11 how much more the 5S/6 which is already slow on iOS 11??

And even the iPhone 5 is like 10 Times faster than iPhone 4s on iOS 9. Remember Both iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 are 32 bit.

What i'm saying is if iPhone 5 is fast on iOS 10. but both iPhone 5S and 6 is already slow on iOS 11 by the way. Sometimes 64 bit does not matter if it's clocked at lower rate, same ram as 5. A6-A8 iPhones are 1GB Ram by the way. Prayer is our Last Hope

This is about people who actually know Apple beyond YouTube channels. When they announced (leaked?) that iOS 9 would be centered in delivering performance and stability, a lot of people in here and around the internet predicted it would support legacy devices. This was confirmed a few days (or hours) before the reveal back in June 2015.

The chance for the 5S getting 12 is certainly there, and it probably won’t happen but still, this decision won’t be taken based on the compiled statistics of one user.

Now that you mention old devices such as the 2G, I assume you must be familiar with Apple’s iOS Devices history and how they do things. So, these chances are based on how the iPad 2 got 6 (5 major updates) different versions of iOS: this fact seems to be too hard to digest for some people around here, doesn’t it?

Either way, the 6 and above will be supported for sure, period. Everyone already knows that, how they open debate year after year about the same topic is way beyond me. It’s just their history and their processor, and if you still think otherwise you should study more of the good old iOS history.

So, there you go…
