Ok I've found the post about the explanations for the mystery of build numbers :)
Thanks to Dreadlord

I think there is a good chance this beta 10 will be the same as GM , without the debugging tools.

"There will be no GM version for iOS 11.2.5. There weren't any GM version for point releases of iOS 10 or 9. If you're talking about the long build number which has '5' to indicate this version is built with the extra analyzing and logging tools enabled.

This build has build number 15D5059a (Debug version). They will release same version with logging tools disabled (Release version) with build version 15D59. All code will be same as today's beta in the final release, they will just switch off the debug tools by editing the property files like:

DEBUG_BUILD = TRUE (15D5059a / iOS 11.2.5 beta 6)
DEBUG_BUILD = FALSE (15D59 / iOS 11.2.5 release)

If they want to hide some features that will debut with the final version, RELEASE switch will do the trick.

RELEASE = FALSE (hide features such as Apple Watch app which shows Apple Watch 3 with red dot in the crown in the iOS 11.0 betas)
RELEASE = TRUE (enable features like iOS 11.0 GM)

Point version betas (11.x.x betas) can have short build number but this does not mean they are the GM version. Apple just disables the logging tools in these builds. Apple probably wants more info/data from the tester's usage regarding to under the hood changes in this release, hence they didn't release a version with logging tools disabled. They usually release beta releases with logging tools disabled when they have enough data regarding to changes in betas.

To clarify, GM version is the final version that has finalized SDK and APIs of a version that has a lot of new APIs and SDK."

Doesn't the last version / GM candidate usually remove the feedback app?

Nope, it is only removed once you delete the beta profile and install the public version. If you keep the beta profile once the public release comes out you will stay on the beta programme, so will continue getting betas of 12.1, etc.

I got that on both my iPad Pro and my iPhone X after updating. Sort of like when I get an email from LinkedIn that someone looked at my profile and I'm like "Yeah, that was 4 days ago. Thanks for the timely alert."

Not entirely true. The Feedback app is tied to the Public Beta profile. Delete the profile, the Feedback app goes away. The Feedback app is coded into the Developer Beta. So once the GM candidate rolls around, the Feedback app will go away, provided you have the Developer Profile installed.

I am 90% sure my Feedback app remained there last year once the GM candidate was released. In fact, I installed the general public version about a week after iOS 11 was officially released and the Feedback app stayed there all along. Once I deleted the beta profile and restarted the phone, it was gone. I then went on with a clean (restore) installation of iOS 11 to remove any stuff left behind from the previous betas.

I seem to recall this happening to users as well (I think it made people question whether the build was the GM or not).

What you’re saying is true for the public beta, not developer previews.

I would say that Apple and we (with the feedback app) have done a great job with iOS 12. It’s so good.

I was also thinking about not to buy the next iPhone (sorry apple) but I’m very interested in the iPhone XS Plus

So... Last beta/gm on monday? I think it depends on how far production of the next iPhones are. Sooner or later something will have to be flashed onto these phones and time is running out, with only 4 weeks till release.

Yes, speculation, in a speculation thread :)

What do you think?

Nope. I think we’re done with betas. We may see GM a day or 2 after Labor Day (September 3) here in the US but likely nothing til then.

Interesting... If no new firmware appears on monday, I may consider doing a final clean install of iOS 12 on my X. Need to see how good it can run, before it is replaced by the new Plus :)

GM comes out the day of the event.
