if there is another one. they might just go gold

iOS 12’s public release will probably be September 19 or so. They have no reason to produce a GM this early. Not sure why so many people keep suggesting this. I’ve seen people wagering “the next release will be GM” for a couple weeks. That’s just not how it works.

The September 12 event is confirmed. They won’t release iOS 12 before that. And the time between now and then is valuable time to spend on quality in the software world.

Oh no reason.

Except the guys working at Foxconn Zhengzhou need software to load onto the 50,000 units of iPhones being assembled every day. Those iPhones need to be on air cargo pallets in the next 14 days so they can reach stores and UPS distribution points on September 21.

So, no reason at all.

Exactly, GM is probably completed as we speak, they need a finalised version quickly for the new hardware.

Would have guessed "GM Candidate" on the 4th. Now because of the popup I'm thinking a new beta tomorrow (which may or may not, probably not be called "GM" or "GM Candidate").

There are no GM candidates in iOS, that’s only MacOS. They will be betas until the GM is released after the keynote on the 12th. Normally I would say no to more betas, but I think because of this pop up, we will get one more. Releasing a new beta for the pop up wouldn’t affect the GM build, it would just get rid of the annoyance.

Set the date back to 8/23 for now. No more popup. This does cause a few app logins to go crazy. Even the app store.

There's no reason to distribute that build to the public though, especially if it contains things like new wallpapers that Apple would like to keep under wraps until the iPhone event.

iOS 11 beta 10 was released on September 6 last year. Phone launch on September 22.

Really hope we see an update come out today that fixes this. I cant imagine that a bunch of code would need to be altered but if it doesnt come out today the earliest it would come out would be Tuesday since Monday is a holiday in the US and dealing with this for 4 days in a row is not going to be a pleasurable experience to say the least.

You're forgetting Saturday. Don't think Apple does releases on a Saturday? Well, they have, and let's look at the last time they did:

It fixed a date crashing bug :D
