Same it forced my hand to upgrade to watchOS 6. Everything is back to normal now and the watch is running better than ever.

Time for me to exit the beta game once IOS 13 and WatchOS 6 are live. Now that I have a watch as well it’s too much of a pain.
Only a developer version?

iOS 13.1 XS Max with Watch OS 6.9 S4 GPS only seemed to need a soft restart to improve the very slight battery drain, now pretty normal for me to see it drop about 2-3% overnight. I run several sleep tracking apps plus cardiogram in addition to all Apple Health monitoring options enabled.

If things improve from this, wonderful, but personally no complaints from me.

What are my options? Wait it out?

One way I found over the weekend is to turn OFF WIFI on the watch. I did this reluctantly as i dont like to turn it OFF (prefer keeping all connectivity options ON).

And the battery drain was not that "severe". Its still there but what this means is that i do not need to carry my watch charger around all day.

Also, most importantly by turning WIFI OFF I did not miss anything e.g. notifications etc

Will see if this workaround holds water today.

ok yesterday when i walked in the door (after my day) the battery was at 64%. That would be 10 hrs from a full charge with WIFI off. I used the watch as i would notifs, music etc.

I think with WIFI ON and this buggy beta the watch used be between 35 - 50%.

Prior to the buggy betas I would reach home with battery % between 70 and 80.

edit: I turned wifi off from within the settings on the watch. Any other way will turn it back on

I have turned WiFi off on the AW but it just keeps turning back on by itself

Unfortunately in some cases Apples usability team would like us to be in confusion over multiple ways of toggling the same controls.

Back to the point, please go into AW's settings (not via swipe up control panel on the watch) and turn off WIFI in settings. That will work.

Two days in with wifi off on the AW and its helps a bit. Not a whole lot but its something.

Toggling WiFi for me was useless in addressing this for me, no matter how I toggled it off.

Turning off the iPhone will stop the battery drain.

Putting the watch in Airplane Mode will stop the battery drain.

I suspect it's the bluetooth connection is in overdrive and never stops hitting up the watch but the only way to test that theory is to turn off bluetooth which impacts too many other things for me to have tested it yet.

I've opted so far to just keep the watch in Airplane mode most of the time. Obviously the watch loses much of its functionality in airplane mode, but not all of it. Workout apps, heart rate, note apps, etc, which are my main priorities for the watch still work.

Just got notification on my iPhone that PUBLIC beta 2 is available for download (after rebooting it)...

Installing now to see if it fixes it (and Google Hangouts) as the Dev beta 2 users indicated. Surprised the public beta came out so quickly after the just released dev beta 2.

Will report back later if the watch drain is fixed with this one.

Hangouts seems to be fixed (people say) but nobody mentioned watch yet (it takes some time to be able to tell). Can't wait to hear it!

Looks like beta 2 fixed it. Still only 1 hour in with the new beta but the battery % on the watch has been static so far.
Hopefully this is fixed for good now.

Beta 2 seems to have fixed it for me.

6 hours since a full charge and the watch is at 89% battery. This includes running the heart rate monitor for 67 minutes via the exercise app.

Usage per the watch settings app:
Usage 2:26
Standby 5:55

During the drain period Usage and Standby were usually just minutes apart.

I am on iOS 12.4.1 and S4 with watch OS 5.3.1 and am right now downloading iOS 13.1 PB2 in hopes it fixes my battery life. How far of a shot is this?

I've owned the watch for 3 weeks and have not had a decent battery life at all, no matter the iOS/watch OS combo.

For instance, i have barely used the watch today - 1 quick check of the weather, i am 3,5 hours off charger and im down to 86% - practically no use at all!

There are risks and annoyances with installing any beta along with getting to see new features etc

Be aware of them.

It may not fix your issue as it is should have been normal already in 12.4.1 in the first place.

Taking it back to apple customer care might help.
