iOS 13.3.1 includes bug fixes and improvements. This update:
  • Fixes an issue in Communication Limits that could allow a contact to be added without entering the Screen Time passcode
  • Adds a setting to control the use of location services by the U1 Ultra Wideband chip
  • Addresses an issue that could cause a momentary delay before editing a Deep Fusion photo taken on iPhone 11 or iPhone 11 Pro
  • Resolves an issue with Mail that could cause remote images to load even when the "Load Remote Images" setting is disabled
  • Fixes an issue that could cause multiple undo dialogs to appear in Mail
  • Addresses an issue where FaceTime could use the rear facing ultra-wide camera instead of the wide camera
  • Resolves an issue where push notifications could fail to be delivered over Wi-Fi
  • Addresses a CarPlay issue that could cause distorted sound when making phone calls in certain vehicles
  • Introduces support for Indian English Siri voices for HomePod

Adds a setting to control the use of location services by the U1 Ultra Wideband chip for iPhone 11/11 Pro/11 Pro Max.

I'm curious, what would be the reasoning behind disabling this chip? So far what I've read suggests the chip is merely for making it easier to find other devices to AirDrop to and similar. I'm not sure how this can be bad.

It's there for the privacy proponents wanting to disable it should they wish to.

Since it’s there for all devices not just those with the “chip” what else would this shut down? Has to be more than just that chip on the 11s iPhones. I’ll let others find out what else this disables.

If you don't have the U1 chip you won't an option to shut anything down.

It’s there for all devices. Screenshot is from my ipad. No such chip. Shuts down more than the chip, I’m just curious what else. I have no intention of disabling it.

In the Wallet & Apple Pay section of Settings, I’m thinking the text below the Express Transit Card section should say “...and may *NOT* be available when your iPhone needs to be charged.”

Right?

Nope, that is correct. Express Transit works in a low power mode, even if you cant turn your phone on apparently.

"Checking for mail..." on Wifi still takes up to two minutes most tries. Tested on multiple networks. Never takes more than five seconds on cellular.

Have already tried resetting network settings, no change.

Seems it cuts off location services for BT and wifi as well.

<<Turning this off disables the ultra wideband (UWB) chip in your iPhone. Why is this important? Since that chip isn't approved for use globally, disabling it may be necessary if you're in a country where its use isn't supported.

When you toggle that slider, you'll get a message that it may affect your Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and UWB performance, but it's nice to know the option is there if needed. >>>
