Usually GM is one week before final release. And final release is usually one week after the iPhone event. I.e. usually GM releases the same day as the event.

But this year the final release is 9 days away, on the 19th, so I think there's a chance GM could be out on the 12th instead.

I guess that depends if the GM is based more on the day of the announcement and that just happened to be a week before the public release in the past, or if it is based more on being a week before the public release and that just happened to be the same day as the announcement in the past.
