Since updating to 14.7 if I’m listening to music/podcasts and I get a call the the music/podcast doesn’t pause…..so I hear both the call and whatever is playing at the same time. Maybe I need to unpair and re pair my headphones, but I just wondered if this is a common bug since the update.

I think 14.7 has fixed UI lags and battery drain on my iPhone XS
I was also noticing how great this version is on my launch 7. There are always jokes about safari being snappier but for real safari is actually snappier!! Pages load quicker than I’ve ever seen on my nearly 5 year old device! Also my standby time has improved. If I’m not using it the percents seems to barely budge now after a few hours. Great job on this one Apple.

It is also too bad though that we have to wait till the end of a software cycle to get the most polished best stable version but that’s just how this stuff works!

This has been the worst update yet. My phone has been constantly warm since I updated (didn’t have this issue with iOS 14.6)….I’ve had issues with my Bluetooth connecting with my Airpods and my screen feels “too warm” again. I agree that the battery life got worse with 14.6….but literally everything else got worse with this update. So frustrating.

I think is literally useless if you guys post feedback of your experience with this version of ios without specifying the phone you’re using.
My bad I have the iPhone 12 Pro. It’s been a mess since I updated two nights ago…super hot phone…Bluetooth issues and my screen dimming seems off like it did when I first bought it.

Having similar issues with my 12 pro. I’m gonna do a DFU restore hopefully it gets better.

is it possible to just downgrade back to iOS 14.6? I’m not really a “tech guy” but this is ridiculous…my phone has remained hot no matter what I do. The battery may be improved but it’s not worth it if literally everything else gets worse.

Yes, it is. Since apple is still signing 14.6 you can downgrade right now.

So it seems that the newer iphones 12 have issues while older iphones love this update. Waaay to go Apple, hope they’ll do the same the next two years

Have you tried so shut it down for a minute or so and start up again. My old mini 4, was also hot at the start but after a full charge and restart it is back to normal.

My 12 pro max does not have an issue. So it certainly isn’t all 12s. Have you spoken to Apple about it?

It could be that there is an app running (stuck running in the background). Best to try soft reset and clear ram. Volume up volume down hold right side button till apple appears. Turn on assistive touch power off then home button if screen goes right to enter your pass code you have reset ram.

I got the 12pm which has been pretty solid on 14.6 both performance and battery and I’m quite scared to update frankly.

With hot phone - have you looked at Battery under setting and see what app is taking a lot of power. Sometimes apps "run away" and cause power and heat issues. If you see one that is using a lot of power you could try force quit it - restart phone and before restarting that app see if behavior changes.

Maybe try a “reset all settings” first. That is pretty much non-destructive. Just have to add back wallpaper and Wi-Fi networks and of course any settings you have changed. Apps and data stay put. Pretty painless and typically will resolve weird issues.

Like others have said, more than likely, the battery issue is stemming from a "Run-away" process. Generally speaking, the heat that you are feeling is coming from the CPU. Has anyone tried an app that tells you your current CPU usage percentage? It is normal for it to spike when you first open the app but on my 12 Pro, it usually hovers around 1-5 percent idling. If the number is much higher, at least it would give an idea that something is spiking the CPU itself.

14.7 is killing my iPhone 12 Pro battery just like 14.5. Wish I could go back to 14.3.

I get 1% battery drop every 6-8 minutes.

I did the bad thing where I made some changes all at once...loaded 14.7 and Visible on the eSIM of my 12 mini. I know the 12 mini's battery is smaller, but seeing a percentage drop every few minutes feels abnormal even for it.

Initially, I thought adding Visible made my phone battery drain quickly and device feel extra warm. After some testing (and even turning off the eSIM line entirely), it seems the Music app might be to blame—I'm guessing it's using a lot of energy because my car's USB port can barely keep up for charging, too. This is something that sprung up with 14.7, as it feels noticeably bad/broken.

I'll add that it seemed to be the case regardless of local music, streamed, lossless/Atmos, or lower quality. I also noticed it while using AirPods (basically went for a walk and noticed my phone got warmer than usual) or in the car.

Debating about whether or not to roll back to 14.6 while I still can or do an entire erase/restore (I already did reload the complete 14.7 IPSW).

Edit: And just after I rolled back to 14.6, I see Apple released 14.7.1. Anyone have issues on 14.7, upgrade to 14.7.1, and see things improve?

Edit 2: Unfortunately, downgrading to 14.6 broke the Home app and iCloud backups and one of my apps had a phantom icon (could delete, but not reinstall and would appear after a reboot). I nuked everything, crossed my fingers and put 14.7.1 on it...we'll see if the issue returns.

Edit 3: I set it up as a completely new device (14.7.1) and things have been fine—I don't know what was in my setup, but that didn't agree with 14.7 or 14.7.1
