Does anyone have issues with ios14 where ringer gets set to the lowest setting?

I'm missing messages and phone calls because no sound is playing. But when I turn silent switch to off and on, ringer volume gets restored...

I did a DFU restore with no backup and it is still happening... :(

Me too. I posted about it recently and apparently it’s been a thing since 13. This is my first time encountering the problem and it sucks bad.

yeah I never encountered it on iOS 13 lol it does suck bad... :(

I've got this same problem on iphone XR iOS 14.0.1. It's so bad on my phone the phone is almost useless as a phone now. I have missed 3 calls today and several text messages because ringer/text volume keeps resetting to ZERO! I have the "change ringer volume with side buttons" turned off. I have tried rebooting. I can literally change the ringer to 50% and go back into settings and find it at ZERO or 20% the next minute. ARG!!!!!

Could this have something to do with the Attention Aware functionality in some way (and perhaps some issue with it)?

attention aware should lower the volume when you look at the phone... so I don't think it should... I disabled it to debug but still no luck with volume being lowered down by itself

I had the opposite problem on iOS14, calls would ring through in my Airpods even though I had the switch set to silent and "silence unknown callers" stopped working completely and let random spam calls ring. Apple seem to care more about the flashy new features than making it work well as you know, a PHONE. I reverted to iOS13 before they stopped signing it thankfully.

I have same problem on my new 11 pro. Phone keeps self adjusting the ringers and alerts down to nil. It’s killing me.

How is it possible Apple didn’t catch this? It’s killing me too. One thing I noticed about it: it seems like adjusting the volume from control center affects my ringer when it shouldn’t. I WAS used to using control center volume to zero-out my volume right BEFORE watching a video in bed late at night. But that now seems to also zero out my ringer volume. Didn’t do that in iOS 13.

but that’s not the only time this happens, so who knows...

I haven’t had this issue, but the issue I have is where I put it on silent and some text messages still have sound.

Same on my iPhone XS. At first I thought it was just how Do Not Disturb works, but then I realized the sound level wasn't going back to normal.

So it's funny (not really) that Apple's feedback site doesn't list iOS 14 as one of the options. Latest is iOS 13.7

Regardless please be sure to be submitting this bug report.

I'm new to iPhone using a SE 2020 and I've been having the same problem. I turn the ringer volume to 100%, set the phone down and return in 20 minute only to find the volume at 0% when I go back into settings. I had no problems until the ios 14 update.

Just curious, for those experiencing this issue: what is your Change with Buttons setting set to?

Both me and my wife have this phone, but do not think any of us have noticed this issue strange enough (we have set the ring volume to change with the buttons).

Strange. I haven’t noticed that. I have noticed that sometimes when it self adjust down to silent, it happens right after I start typing a message in Messages. Pain in the arse, really. After I think 6 previous iPhones and countless software updates, this iOS 14 is the only one I’ve ever had problems with. Must’ve just gotten lucky before.

Mine is set to off. But I set it to on and it still happened.

Same problem here on iPhone XS Max. It seemed to correlate with my car’s Bluetooth and my AirPods Pro usage.

I turned off Bluetooth entirely and have not seen the bug in a few days. It’s far from ideal but I feel better about not missing calls.

Attention aware is still enabled. Change with buttons is disabled.

I wonder if that might be related to the new Reduce Loud Sounds option on the Sounds & Haptics screen. It seems like it should be related to headphones only, but perhaps it's not working correctly in some way. Might be worth making sure that it's off (or even enabling and disabling it just to make sure).

The Reduce Loud Sounds option has never been enabled on my phone. I just toggled it on then back to off—will see if that makes a difference.

My next thought was to re-enable the Bluetooth but only use either the car Bluetooth or AirPods for a few days to see which is more likely to minimize the ringer volume (or see if it’s both).

In the meantime, I still haven’t seen the bug with the Bluetooth shut off. This is by far the longest stretch that has gone by where I haven’t had to reset the volume to something other than zero. Prior to disabling Bluetooth I had to increase the volume a few times per day.

I also noticed my sounds where are messed up, like keyboard clicks would be abnormally louder than what I set my ringer at.

I tried an regular power off and power on but that didn't help so I then did a force restart and that seemed to have it fixed it for now.

That's a little strange. Realistically force restart does the same thing as a powering off and then powering on, it just that it's mainly used in cases where the device is stuck in some way and the regular method to power off isn't accessible.

Off. And: I have it off because of previous iOS 13 issues with bluetooth volume control issues vs ringer or something. Now on iOS 14.0.1 i still have it off, but now experiencing these random ringer volume changes like the others in this thread.
