Yep I get exactly the same behavior. It seemed to resolve when I turned off Bluetooth for several days. It came back when I started using my AirPods again.

I missed a couple of calls (WhatsApp calls ) and sure enough my ringer was off . I'm happy to have found this tread.

Edit : When the ringer toggle was off I tried to call myself with the landline and my iPhone rang nevertheless .

I'm seeing the exact same thing here. Between this and the issue with no notifications come through while on a phone call - Apple is turning my iPhone into a useless brick.

I had this exact problem on my iPhone X with iOS 14.0.1.

Now, I have an iPhone 12 Pro running on iOS 14.1 as fresh install (no backup from iCloud) and still have the same exact issue. It’s very annoying..

indeed same here, switched to iPhone 12 pro and it still gets muted... I sent feedback to apple but have not heard anything

Just realized that when it’s muted all the way down, if you turn on the (media) volume using side buttons when on home screen and then back to all the way down again, the ring volume gets restored back to full again.

I too am experiencing this. It ties in with the seperate thread I made regarding notification sounds being too loud. Keyboard click sounds are also too loud. The behavior is very glitchy and extremely annoying.

I'm new to iPhone using a SE 2020 and I've been having the same problem. I turn the ringer volume to 100%, set the phone down and return in 20 minute only to find the volume at 0% when I go back into settings. I had no problems until the ios 14 update.
Exactly the same on my iPhone 12.
have tried turning off Attention Awareness, no difference, then change with buttons and still reverts to Zero volume.

anyone know if 14.2 fixed this? im still on ios 13 with my x, still not sure about updating

So far it looks like IOS 14.2 has cured it🤞🏼

I'm on an iPhone SE, just updated to iOS 14.3 and am still experiencing issues with volume changing by itself.
I try to turn my ringer to the lowest volume before silent (10%) and it automatically gets raised to about 40% volume. I can't tell what's triggering it, but I noticed I had the volume set to 10%, received a call/answered it/hung up, and the volume was back to 40%.

Took my case off to see if it was pressing the buttons, but it still happens without the case. SE's don't have Attention Awareness so it's not that, and I don't use bluetooth earbuds.
