I have a couple of issues after going to 5.1.1 on my 12 Pro:
  • Battery drain is really really bad, it's maybe 30% quicker drain than before.
  • Sometimes it takes 3-4 minutes to restart the phone.
  • Phone has issues connecting to WiFi after restart.
Great "upgrade" Apple! I had none of these problems before. Does Apple even QA test before they release??
Have you tried resetting the phone? I know that any iOS build has it's bugs and issues but I have a 12 Pro and don't notice any of the issues that you outlined. Battery may be a little worse but certainly not that bad.

Did a fresh iTunes backup this morning, then erase all content and settings, then a iTunes restore. The slow startup times and the WiFi problem is still there. Will test today and see if the battery drain issue has improved.

This is really starting to irritate. Thought it might be related to being on 15.2 beta but here we are back on 15.1.1 with the same crap.

I would not suggest this unless you are confident but it is possible the issue might lie in your backup. If you wipe the phone, then restore the bad configs, the issue will still be present because you "restore the bug."

Of course, truly starting "NEW" is a pain. If you do, I would still keep the backup on standby, if you still have the issue, you could probably safely restore that backup. If after a wipe, the issue goes away, then the issue lies in your backup somewhere.

I had the same issue one night on 15.1 on a device that never saw 15.2 beta. Seemed like a restart solved it. Have not seen it since but I don't check it every morning.
I have to do a restore tonight anyway since I just realized that all of my health data is missing since downgrading (big shocker there; this would be my second time losing years of health data). Hopefully that'll straighten things out.

If you save local backups, do you encrypt? I am not sure on the health data but I know that if the user does a PC backup without an encryption, some data won't backup.

I used to but it's been so long since I've had a bug that warranted a downgrade so I've gotten lax.

There's another thread with the News background activity with other people having the same issue: https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...hog-on-ios-15-0-19a346-iphone-13-pro.2314802/

It started for me on 15.0 betas and isn't fixed yet. The only way I was able to make it stop background activity was to force-close the app and reboot. However, background activity comes back as soon as you re-open the News app. Just a force-close doesn't help, you have to force-close and reboot. I've deleted the News app from my phone and that "fixes" it too.

Not sure why the News app is broken like this but I've moved on to using my RSS reader instead and not have to deal with the terrible ads in the News app.

Great. Why are Apple able to make an awesome full-featured weather app without injecting useless ads but they can't do the same for News?

Any recommendations for a halfway decent ad-free news app?

The way Apple presents the ads, it's so ugly. They could definitely integrate the ads much better so it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. I actually think Microsoft's news app does a pretty good job with that in the feed. I just don't like that Microsoft's news app mostly just displays the webpage for the article.

I'm currently using Newsify because I bought the "pro" version before they switched to subscription based only. I like it because it does a good job in getting full-text in the RSS feed. I'm only using this now because it's the only reader that has a newspaper layout option, similar to the News app, just not as pretty. However, the subscription is $2.99 per month with no yearly option and I find that expensive compared to other readers.

Unread is my favorite for non-newspaper layout. This has the best full-text rendering out of all the apps. It's also subscription based and at $2.99 per month but has a yearly option for $19.99.

2nd favorite is Reeder 5. It's on par with Unread but I find Unread has a prettier UX. It's a one time purchase for $4.99. This developer releases a new app almost yearly and it replaces the current one. You have to buy the new app to get whatever new features it brings. You can continue using the current app but won't get new features or fixes after the new app is released.

Ever since the latest update, 15.1.1 on 12 Pro, I am losing emails that are/were in my inbox. They just seem to randomly disappear. Not in trash or anywhere else. iPad and iMac emails are intact.

Anyone have their phone lock up after this update? I was looking on a website and the phone completely locked up for about 20-30 seconds. At this time, I noticed the brightness dropped down to a low level, then when it became responsive again, the screen got a little brighter. Never had that issue before. PS. I have a 12 Pro.

On 15.1.1, anyone having issues with their message app? App hangs/black screen when I open it and a force close doesn’t seem to fix it. I have to restart the phone to get it working again.

Had some issues with the Messages app on 15.0, been fine since.

Daughter’s X had a springboard crash yesterday on 15.1.1, one off so far…

I've had messages lock up on me a couple of times on 15.2 beta 3 as well. Hope this gets squashed in the next release. iOS is hurting right now.

I have been having connectivity issues on a iPhone 12 Mini for about two months - the penultimate ios 14 upgrade made my phone not usable for web browsing, sending Whatsapp messages or using internet banking on the 4G network at all, and only on home wifi after a restart. Apple wouldn't admit there was a problem. The first ios 15 update didn't fix it, and actually made it worse, but ios 15.1.1 update has fixed it completely. At last I have got back the phone I bought in April.

I ought to add that the Apple support lady whop was helping me with it yesterday could not run their diagnostics with my phone on wifi, and couldn't back it up to the Cloud. The back up had to be done via a cable and a Windows 10 computer running iTunes, and the ios update had to be downloaded the same way

Is anybody else having issues with Apple Music playing in SharePlay? It’s constantly loading and never plays. Or it takes FOREVER! I’m not sure if this has been posted or not. But I reset my settings, and I just reset my iPhone and restored from backup and still having the same problem. None of this happened until I updated to 15.1.1 iPhone 13 Pro Max, 1TB if that matters. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I’m having issues with battery usage since upgrading to 15.1.1 on my 13 mini.
App Store and Music apps seem to be the biggest culprits, even though they are not running/open.
Anyone else having similar issues?
