Not to be that guy, but Safari is legitimately snappier. They fixed the wonkiness around the address bar and it just feels fast. And the new tab page components now have rounded corners. It feels so much better (for now).

Give it a little bit of time. More than likely, you aren't seeing it because Apple's servers are getting hammered. Not uncommon for the phone to say "No updates available" when there actually is a firmware update available when servers are severely under load.

Battery life for me has been amazing so far on beta 2.

I don’t indulge the battery posts as a general rule, but I have to say, I haven’t had the need to plug my phone in so far myself.
