I'm honestly baffled.
There are many boring and age-old bugs throughout the ecosystem and the development team spend their time playing "games" which among other things are already available for free with third party apps that are even better.
Shipping a new app gets you promoted in big tech companies. Fixing bugs doesn’t.

As the article says, “the puzzle games seem to be limited to the U.S. and Canada.
Not originally, only after our comments.

I have AppleNews+ and am based in the UK but don't have a Puzzles tab and haven't been able to find the crosswords in the past. I know Quartiles comes with 17.5 but not found crosswords before either. Is this a US only feature?
Same here. Can anyone advise as the Apple support page is next to useless on this.

I’d like them to make the crossword available in the UK. As to News+ it’s actually the only service other than Music I’m interested in and I’m disappointed they only bundle it with the most expensive tiers of Apple One. Have no interest in their TV, Arcade or Fitness.

So Apple now gaming for more Apple News+ subscribers. :D
They purchased Texture and turned it into Apple only.
If they want more subs, they need to include Android and Windows in the mix.
I suppose the same could be true with Arcade.

Oh boy. This validates my choice, 30 years ago, to go with Apple. 😉

It’s a good thing Apple now allows cloud gaming apps and retro emulators because this would’ve ****ed them in court if they saw Apple has a “multiple game app” with News but no one else is allowed to have one.

I don’t even see the value in apple one
My primary driver is backup space for a family of 4, each with two iOS/iPadOS devices. I wanted the storage. But we use Apple Music, Apple News+ daily. Semi-regularly use Apple TV+. (I don't care one bit about fitness or arcade, but I think my kids might use Arcade.)

2TB iCloud storage and Apple Music family would cost $28/month bought individually. So I'm paying an extra $10/month to get News+ and TV+, which doesn't feel unreasonable.

Of course, YMMV.

Why'd you willingly go back to elementary school? This game looks super -

Can anyone help me form the right word with the tiles above and read out the entire sentence?

Billy, would you like to try!?

I'm glad to see Apple's News team investing on making the platform better. I've used News+ for years now and it's gradually replacing my browser visits to news sites.

ⓘ Pro Tip: MacRumors can be followed and viewed on Apple News.

Audio stories are another US-only Apple News feature, despite the fact that Apple News Today is freely available as a podcast outside the US

This has always boggled me. I listen to Apple News Today every morning. I even have a Shortcut that detects when I've gotten out of bed (Aqara millimetre wave sensor) and runs the podcast on my HomePods. I get that the news topics are US focused but at least give us the option to turn it on in the News app. Canadians at least pay close attention to US news.

I don't get it.

That's a good point. Apple should get their one and only developer to focus on more important stuff.
