I don’t use Siri much but I do for passwords.

“Show me my password for ____” opens you to the right place.

or

“Open passwords”

I use Siri extensively, with HomePods in every room and Siri on my Watch and AirPods, but holy cow, I didn't know this. So cool!

LOL! to 1Password.

Going to use the heck out of this. (and be Electron free)
Electron free and cross platform free too. No thanks. I see too many people on Reddit getting locked out of their Apple ID.… so that means, your passwords too.
RIP 1Password.
yeah ok 🙄. How many weather apps are in the App Store? Now many note apps also? You really think an Apple platform only is going to kill 1Password, let alone other 3rd party passwords? I highly doubt it.

I'm surprised AgileBits' astroturfers haven't shown up in this thread yet. You can find at least one of them in the comments section every time a story about password management is posted on MacRumors. 🤣

I would have liked to the see the option for the owner to have higher privileges so that others in the group are not able to modify passwords

Or hide passwords so you can share a service without allowing them to share your password (service) with others.

But are they going to make it easier to access the password manager? Right now I have to go to settings > safari > passwords. It’s hella annoying. Can I just have an icon on the Home Screen or in the control center?
System Preferences/Settings -> Passwords. Not quite as convenient as a dedicated app, but better than opening up Safari.

I wish Apple let 3rd party Mac browsers like Firefox and Brave access the iCloud Keychain like they do on iOS

With a shortcut, you can.

Edit: Using Shortcuts app, create a new shortcut to Open URL „prefs:root=PASSWORDS“ (without quotation marks) as documented by Viticci and add it to your home screen.
I thought Apple announced in the keynote that they are putting in an ‘insert contact or password’ button in the options along with cut/paste/etc when you tap in a text field. Probably means you don’t need any other shortcut.

Although, Arn’s suggestion of using Siri might be even faster. “Show me my __ password” takes you directly to that password rather than having to search for or scroll to it.

What happens when you delete the group? Is the password erased from everyone device except the creator or everybody is keeping it separately in their own keychain?

command-space: passwords

I still use 1Password7 as it's paid for, not a sub... however, I have been needing to share a couple passwords with the family, and have been pondering switching to a different program or sucking up and paying a monthly fee; now I don't!

I honestly can’t think of anyone I would share my passwords with. Not my wife and certainly not my children. The only one I have complete trust in is my dog.
So you don't share or have joint control over your Internet password, your bank password, your Netflix password? How old would your wife access any of your account if you were to die today if you don't share passwords? Telephone bills, gas bill, electric bill, etc..

Unfortunately still doesn’t have the cross-platform support of Bitwarden. Getting better, though.
Irregardless I'm still trying to understand what the use case for this would be?!
- can the shared password be shared on a set time basis (aka share for 5 seconds, 1 minute)?
- can sharing also be cancelled by the original keychain owner?
- can sharing specifically NOT be saved into the shared person's own keychain?
- can the shared password(s) NOT be shown (only asterisks)??!!
- can the shared password NEVER be screen captured?!

Can ALL these specifics be pre-set by the original keychain password owner?!

I'm thinking of anyone close to you get's a hold of your iPhone unlocked - EVEN for a brief moment at a bar, or, at work (remember there are always snakes when you're trying to go up the ladder)! We already seen Apple rid the ability for Apple Watch to be locked when iPhone is out of close proximity, invoking a manually entered password when that occurred - back in iOS 14 and prior!

I've personally changed dating habits due to this Apple Watch issue - and sold my Apple Watch!

If its to be a true 1Password competitor with family sharing groups then it needs to have an option to add all or select all for moving passwords into those groups.

Currently you can only select one password at a time to move to the shared group and no bulk add.

I also wonder if like in 1password you can set a default group to save into being the shared vault, it would be good to have this option in keychain.

Also like in 1Password you can add multiple URLs, this is useful as the name of the password saved is usually the login page URL.

some sites login pages are for example apple.com/login but some are pretty gross looking or abbreviated versions of the websites name that aren‘t easy to figure out the name of the password you want by an abbreviation of the website

Being able to rename those passwords names to be easily viewed would be good also and not just be the URL of the site

Being a long-time Bitwarden user, and managing a lot of passwords, I just cannot fathom using Passwords/Keychain until folders are allowed for organization.

Even as tempted as I am to migrate over to Passwords/Keychain, especially with integrated Passkeys support coming.
