One feature of OurGroceries that keeps me there is remembering past items. I can type "enj" and "enjoy life chocolate chips" cokes right up and I can tap to add it. Quicker than typing out the full name or asking Siri to add it.

Was hoping to see another OurGroceries user. An underappreciated app. It’s also cross platform which is useful if you have Android users in the house. All you have to do is enter the same email address to sync. And the syncing works real time. It’s also useful to have a separate groceries list rather than have it in notes, since you can have separate lists for separate stores.

Also, handy to cross things off but have them still show up so you can verify, and then easily clear them all at once. I don’t think Reminders will do that.

Good to see Apple adding this for everyone but for people that do a lot of shopping I recommend it. Free with ads or one time inexpensive IAP to remove them.

We regularly use around five supermarkets, a butcher, and lots of "other" shops (deli, milk on farm, etc.)

And some products only available in one, or the make in another is unacceptable.

Basically same.

Grocery lists seems to be a priority for Apple. It was the ”big” selling point during WWDC when Reminders was introduced in iOS 5: “a grocery list with location alerts!!”. Was underwhelmed then and still today.

Multiple stores/shops as well. One chain has two locations I use, depending on what other errands are on the list, with a third not far from one of the primaries. And a fourth one that might get visited, again depending on where coming from or going to next. So location based alerts for the grocery list are pretty useless for me.

Ditto different places for different things, and depending on what’s on sale and where as well. And as mentioned in the thread different layouts/aisles.

Can see where others will like this, but for me, no real value add to make me give up Notes app for my shopping lists.

I use Notes checklists for groceries, with the auto-sort option (checked items go to the bottom). It would be useful to have a category feature there as well, if only to be able to expand/collapse them within a note.

I do that as well, but have mine organized into categories.

Get sherlocked AnyList, OurGroceries, Grocery

Assuming it actually learns when you manually categorize things that is.
Not really. I use Anylist for the per-store pricing, item images, and per-store ordering of categories.

The category sorting let’s the list match the order I buy groceries in the store. Item images let me quickly know what I need to get.

Item prices let me manage the cost of each trip. With the sharp rise in the cost of groceries, I use the total cost of my grocery trip to decided what to get and what to drop from the list.

It goes like this - “Oh! I’m budgeted $x for groceries but it will cost me $y? Let me see what I can do without.”

is there a way to disable the category feature in shopping?
"los internets" wont tell me.....

thanks In advance!

what is did
(after giving up on that internet search thing, what a waste)
was delete "shopping"
added "Foods"

aaah I feel MUCH better!
since my Hunan store shopping consists of only basic things
that can or be crammed into a cycling rucksack bag only.
